I've always loved Jewel. great singer, not the best in the classical sense, but she definitely knows how to create an ambiance with her voice. Her lyrics have this exquisite yearning quality, like a breaking heart. Taylor's songs are kind of campy and uninspired imo. Catchy yes, but no soul.

there are more closet taylor fans than you can imagine. i personally know managing directors, mechanics, graphics designers, soccer moms, etc who blast her songs during commute. her music crosses age and gender boundaries like no one else
