You're confusing ethnicity with race. German is an ethnicity:

It is also a nationality. But not all nationalities are also ethnicities (examples - Americans, Canadians - not ethnicities).

Ethnicity:

Ethnic groups are also usually united by common cultural, behavioural, linguistic, or religious practices. In this sense, an ethnic group is also a cultural community.

Ethnicity = cultural
Nationality = political
Race = physical

Speaking as a Jew myself, Judaism is a religion and a culture, with many people having common ancestors. Within Judaism, there are two main races: Ashkenazi Jews - mostly from eastern european descent, and Sephardic Jews - most of whom were expelled from Spain during the inquisition.

You can have Jewish ancestory and not practice the religion. or vice versa.

Not defensive, it's just a pointless question. There's no reason to ask that question in a thread about jews unless you already know it means kosher. There's no other connection between soda cans and jews. I gave him his answer though, even though I knew he already knew it.
