Jiffy Lube UnderCover Video

My friend just gave me the link to an undercover video that a local station did when they went to different Jiffy Lubes in the area and they got stiffed at 5 out of 9 or them for replacements or services that were never done. That's pretty messed up, even the district manager lied about who he was!:disgust:
See it here

Another million reasons not to go there.

Mechanics are crooks, since when is this new news? They will cheat you if you give them the chance since most of the population knows nothings about cars and how they work.

I think this is usually the case. Usually, if you have the knowledge of even slightly how to do the stuff, you'd know how they'd stiff you, if you look out, but then, you might as well do it yourself if you knew how to do it, wouldn't you?

This is no shocker to me, I'm a long-time Jiffy Lube hater. And let's be clear here... Jiffy Lube is not a mechanic shop or a repair shop. Their employees are NOT certified technicians or mechanics. They are oil change shops. Modern day service stations.

Like everyone has a huge garage and the money to afford all of the tools necessary to do the work even if they knew how...

Exactly. Don't lump a real gearhead in with them.

Huh? It doesn't take a "huge garage" and expensive tools to change your own oil. Just a driveway and simple tools.
The upgrade services that actually require expensive tools that Jiffy Lube does, like transmission flush, serpertine belt change, etc., should only be done by qualified certified technicians, which Jiffy Lube employees never are. Take your car to the dealer or a trusted and certified AAA mechanic/repair shop. They're usually cheaper than Jiffy Lube too (although usually not as convenient, as they will probably need you to drop off your car for the day).

If nothing else, the Jiffy Lube in our area looks nice. It was built not that long ago, nice stone building. Too bad it was probably built from "stolen" money.

If we're only talking about oil changes, then yeah, I agree, but I thought "the stuff" referred to a wider variety of repairs, not just one kind of simple, routine maintenance.

I used to work as a tech as a GM dealership while i was still going to school. Our bonuses were based on average ticket price. Basically the service itself would be say, 27 bucks and the target average price for us to recieve our bonus was 30 or 31 bucks. To get the average price up, we would have to sell extras, like air filters, fuel filters, ignition tune ups etc.

Did I push air filters to little old ladies who probiblty didnt need them to get some extra beer money ? Sure, but if we charged someone for something, they got it. What jiffy lube is doing is a step beyond buyer beware, this is fraud plain and simple.

I was more shocked by the district manager, what a complete tool.

But it's in OT, and as usual you're spewing your normal P&N BS. STAY IN P&N, IT'S ALL YOU TALK ABOUT.
