Someone is offering a lot at this level which is soaked up by many buyers. Whatever this is. Maybe covering shorts.

Uncovered shorts aren't a thing anymore, haven't been for years.

Also, closing out short positions raises a stock price, it doesn't lower it. Thirdly, trade volume is half of normal. Closing short positions increases trade volume, it doesn't lower it.

This is simply lack of interest.

For the same reason they didn't throw the money after the regular lottery. The chance of winning is close to zero. The only ones making money on AMD stocks is professional traders fooling emotional/attached people.

Funny, buy a share of AMD or a $2 lottery ticket. The lottery ticket will probably pay off better :awe:

@Phynaz:

Not likely. Stocks usually have a yearly return of 5-10% on average, lottery tickets around -50%.

I seriously doubt the AMD stock is so overvalued that it has a -50% expected ROI at these levels. If you do, you should go ahead and short the stock.

AMD should cost only 30 cents by 2017

So did you short the stock during that period? And are you going to now?

Anyway, that's of course the case with high risk stocks. They might go down a lot, but they can also go up hundreds of percent.

With e.g Intel, you can be quite sure it won't drop 50% in a year (unless there's a general stock market crash). But you will never see it go up hundreds of percent in a year either.

Oh, I was optimistic... AMD shares will drop below 15 cents... While Intel will increase 0.5 dollar per day per share...

If AMD drops below $0.15/sh, it'll be because the company went bankrupt.

And, I seriously doubt that Intel will go up by $0.50/day, every day.

$.15 huh. You do know that most major stock indices will delist shares if they trade below a price of $1.00 for any significant amount of time, right?

http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/09/stock-delist.asp

You can stop now.
I know that, Even more... When AMD hits below 1.5, they will declare bankrupt since they won't have enough money by that time.

And knowing how Intel and the US army are now allies.. Expect more and more increases... Until the first defeat of that army.

"Some patents suggest, that Zen might use some slightly modified Excavator branch prediction."

If my memory serves, I recall that K8 and the Phenoms were often said to have poor branch prediction. And bulldozer was supposed to completely revamp the branch prediction.

I also seem to remember that Intel worked a lot on this with Pentium 4, and it added its work back into the P3 architecture and that became Conroe. Is this true?

It wasn't just branch prediction, though, that Conroe took from P4. But I can't remember the rest.
