My coworkers love Jimmy Johns. I just think it's about as boring as a sub can get. At least Subway has bread with some flavor baked into it and some sauces to mix things up (sweet onion, chipotle, honey mustard, ect).

subway has the least tasty vegetables and bread on the planet. plus they always smash the bread when they make the sandwich, and being low-quality bread it doesn't rebound very well.

if i wanted dressing i'd order a salad.

Never been to a Jimmy John's, but charging extra for cheese on a sub is completely bogus.

I probably wouldn't care as much if it were like other places that charge 10 cents or a quarter for cheese... but $1.00 for a couple of thin slices? C'mon. Tell me at least before so graciously throwing it on my sub w/ a smile.

It's all about food costs...do you live on your own yet? Price out a 12 pack of american cheese at the grocery. Maybe places have rose their cheese price considerably.

Cheese does not cost $1 a slice.

how much is the cheese you buy?

How much is a soda you buy versus one in a restaurant that has storage, prep and service attached to it?

16 slices of kraft is about $3 - $5 here.

At the low figure that is about double the 10 cents per slice and at the high figure 80 cents.

Add in the above and a dollar is reasonable.

If you are using welfare cheese the shit is going to be cheap. Most bargain sub places cheeses taste almost the same (all are processed) and nothing like a good deli cheese. Jimmy John's at least gets close.

If you want it your way go to fucking Subway. That way you have the option to make it taste like shit by asking for whack combination of ingredients. With JimmyJohns, I can confidently know anything I order will taste good.

HELLS NO

JJ is tiny step above subway... which means they both are terrible.

The JJ I frequent does not charge extra for cheese/pickles/hotpeppers. I like JJs because it is fast and convenient, but it's only good if the bread is perfect (read, toasty/crunchy). Otherwise, it's a very bland sandwich. Subway has worse bread but a lot more goes into the sandwich compared to JJs.

Same damn thing when I go to mcdonalds. I order a hamburger and they ask-"would you like fries with that?" Then they precede to charge me for the fries. Seriously. Since I didnt bother to look at the menu and see the price of the fries why should I be expected to pay for them.

Every Subway I've been in has a rotten food/garbage smell. Yech. I will not eat at establishments that have a nasty odor, as it's a sign that something isn't right in the freshness of the food and sanitation of the place.
