Heh, it was a matter of time...has been a little smokey for a while, so I checked.

Compression is 190 190 104 190. Time for forged pistons!

awe suck. Sad day bro. sad day. This would explain the smokey PCV though - probably a lot of blowby going into the crankcase.

Forged Pistons FTW! 400hp here we come!!

Yep, 400whp easy with cams...might have to get the V6 car running and sell it to fund cams / intake manifold / fuel rail (have 1200cc injectors already) / clutch so I can go for 450rwhp.

Thinking I might fix and sell the V6 MR2, and then get one of these to solve the problem conclusively.

Started to drop...have to disconnect the shifter cables, starter cable, and AC compressor. The axles are out, crossmember is out, engine harness has been disconnected and looped over the engine bay...almost there.

try and get a piece of cardboard against the back wall of the engine bay. May help prevent some scraping. But I see you removed the turbo and DP, so that might make it a lil easier to avoid scraping.

The engine will sit balanced perfectly on the flat bottom of the tranny and oil pan (photo for refrence), but it still might be wise to use a strap to secure it to a dolly.

As youre lowering keep an eye of the e-brake lines, they like to get snagged.

This guy made an awesome guide you can follow to make sure that you have done everything before lowering.

This is fun eh?! Not as fun as driving it, but still a challenge!

Awesome, thanks!

Heh I wish it was fun...it probably will be in hindsight, but now I just want to drive the damn thing.

The engine hoist wasn't quite long enough to reach the engine without rolling forward into the rear bumper cover, so we pushed the V6 car behind the turbo car and ran ratchet straps from the tow hooks to the engine hoist. Worked like a charm..motor is now resting on a rolling pallet thingy under the car.

jlee are you the guy with the plumbers butt crack or the guy with the hobbit feet?

I wouldnt worry about pulling the engine on a cayman Ballmode. If something goes wrong with it the ease of getting it out will be the last of your worries lol

Come winter and your driving your car jlee the midwest schlubs are going to start hating.

I know I will ><

Hate winters...

I'll resurface the flywheel and replace the clutch while I'm in here. I think it was starting to get a little thin, plus it's not going to hold the power I'll be making.

I'm really close to ordering a Gen4 3SGTE (ST215 / Caldina). 250-275rwhp on a completely stock setup with boost controller, ~330whp if I bolt on my GT3071 kit. Coil on plug ignition, learning ECU, etc. All moderny and shit.

Plus, then I have a spare motor I can build, sell, or whatever.

CP 86.5mm forged pistons and an ATS top feed fuel rail with installation kit are on the way.

weird.

I though for sure you would have broken ring lands and heavily scored #3 cylinder. Those bores look pristine though... ?? What was causing bad compression if not that? Stuck Valve?

So, forged bottom end... potential... potential!!!
A solid bottom end like that should be good to the 500hp range, no?

Why the fuel rail upgrade?

You getting ARP head studs and a steel headgasket?

WI or A2W?

A cracked ring land will let gases out of the combustion chamber, but if it's a small crack nothing will jam into the cylinder wall and score it.
