Interesting news today, as senseamp just mentioned we just saw a 5.2% increase in median income in 2015, which is huge. The gains were also spread over all income group and all racial/ethnic groups. I'm sure the standard people will come and chime in about how everything is still terrible, but this is unambiguously excellent economic news.

Look at the chart of what CEOs expected and what actually happened on non-farm payrolls since 2011. They've been wrong all the way.According to the just released CEO Economic Outlook survey, only 27% of the CEOs expect to increase their payroll, while 37% expect no change, and 36% expect to cut their payroll.
IOW you're saying that having a strong local economy at the upper ends is basically a prerequisite for supporting "living wage" laws. Which is not only intuitively obvious, but also the reason why a national minimum wage law is a terrible idea. Any one-size fits all policy that dictates the wage floor for a nation of 300+MM people and with a huge assortment of local microeconomies with completely different employment dynamics is a stupid idea. If Seattle thinks they can support a $15/hour minimum wage then great, if you attempt to impose the same in some backwater town in Mississippi or Alaska all you're going to get is a town with no jobs.
