Iran almost certainly provides seed money for militants used against U.S. forces in Iraq and elsewhere. And depending on how close you consider U.S/Israel ties, you may also consider their funding of anti-Israel militants an issue as well.

I'm pretty conflicted as to whether or not engagement via trade and talks with a dictatorship such as Cuba, North Korea or Iran is a good idea. I guess I need to do more reading on the matter and see what past engagements have wrought. Isolation certainly hasn't done much to Cuba or North Korea, so maybe Senator Biden was on to something with this. And maybe not. Anyone got data on the subject matter?

Iran is a small country that poses no military threat to anyone unless they are attacked. They are like Iraq pre-2003, except their society is very pro-western (even though their leaders spew a lot of anti-western rhetoric).

It's a non-issue. Every election cycle, Republicans like to identify and target one boogeyman to scare the voters with; this year it's Iran.

Seems like a smart arrangement to me. Obama plays bad cop while Biden plays good cop towards Iran. Surely it'll be a better strategy than the bad cop/worser cop one we use against Iran now?
