Really great interview. They cover the idea of deplatforming and Silicon Valley becoming the moral police, legalization of drugs, government involvement, and the current politics.

What do you guys think about Shapiro? I haven’t listened to him much until a few months ago and I find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says. He’s labeled as the alt right (the idea of labeling is discussed a lot in this too) but he’s not and is against a lot of it. More than anything he comes across as honest about his opinions, he transcends tribalism and partisanship and calls issues based on his own thoughts rather than how it slots into left vs right.

These Rogan interviews are great as well, I haven’t watched any until the Twitter episode but it’s great. Good long honest discussions and he seems like a great mediator and interviewer. He just did one with Kevin Hart I want to watch later.

Personally like him out of all the other fellow Anti-SJW group - or as lefties will call them, Nazis.

Which I mean, Ben Shapiro is the biggest Nazi of all.

EDIT: List of similar people, most of which are registered democrats politically: https://intellectualdarkweb.site/vanguards-of-the-intellectual-dark-web/

How is Shapiro a Nazi?
That's like asking how he's not a Nazi. I subscribe to the idea that people are three things. What they think they are, what others think they are and what they really are. The Nazi question falls in the second category, as meaningless, in other words, as the first. We are all the same. That implies that only those who know what they really are know what he is. People in that category would be completely invisible would they not. They would be who you think they are.

I hate the term Nazi. It’s used to label people because of it’s obvious terrible meaning but aside from the small group of Neo Nazis that exist there aren’t frickin Nazis. It’s just like how in the 50s everyone was called commies even if they aren’t communist at all. It’s a label throw out to reduce the conversation down to “bad guy” and doesn’t accurately reflect the person or situation. I feel the same way about how Antifa is being used to label everyone on the left even if they have nothing to do with them and probably disagree with them.

They discuss this some in the video about the use of labels on people. Definitely encourage y’all to watch even if you disagree with the guy.

Sarcasm. He is a jew, so it's kinda hard to be a Nazi.

Yet he is called a nazi all the time by the crazy lefties.
A jew is an identity one assumes based on definitions. By the same means we decide that a frozen fruity sugary desert with a stick in it is a Popsicle. Some are more impressed with such things than others.

This is not surprising in the least. My condolences.

When you attach emotion to words you lose the ability to see the present because you thought is predicated on the past.

Agreed. Nazi is intentionaly a highly emotionally charged term and prevents a real and accurate description of the present.

Shapiro is one of those guys who is Israel-first, which is why he's excused anti-Semitism from the far-right as long as they support Israel. I suspect he has the same views as Sam Harris on this, which is there aren't enough Jews numerically in the world, therefore it's a numbers game of survival, which trumps any arguments against right wing morality. I won't get into the hypocrisy of this position when they oppose Noam Chomsky who argues neo-conservatism needs to be viewed not just as a morality conflict but the numerical body count needs to be counted in the calculus.

But generally when you are a far right conservative, everything is a matter of survival, so morality is simply a game to use when it's convenient for you, and to discard it when its no longer politically useful.

Yep and I disagree with him on that. The US love fest over Israel has caused a ton of problems here and in the Middle East. They are a piss poor ally so I don’t follow that arguement at all and detaching ourselfs from them and the surrounding countries should be the policy.

What would you call the guy who had some pictures of twin lightning bolts and a screed about preserving the "White Race" printed out at a retail store that our daughter handled today? She had no problem seeing that he is a Nazi and telling me so. The icing on top was the red MAGA hat he was wearing. How about the black churches that are burning down in your neck of the woods? Want to make a thread about that or does that not trigger your concern radar? How about the Trump supporter that was just busted defacing the property of others with swastikas and the like? Is she not a Nazi?

If the foo shits, wear it.

The guy wants to criminalize abortion and lower taxes on the wealthy. He casts doubt on scientific consensus on human-made climate change and pretends systemic racism isn't a problem in the US.

So yeah, he's far from a hero. All good people must oppose him.

Edit: On this note, I've noticed that the right loves to fetishize commentators like Shapiro, Jordan Peterson and others because they pitch themselves as "reasonable." Never mind that most of their ideology is hyper-conservative and horrible if you have even the slightest ounce of compassion for people beyond your own demographic... hey, they've been on Joe Rogan's show, that gives them a free pass, doesn't it?

Someone didn't watch the video... naughty naughty.

Also FWIW - looks like the Dem candidate Andrew "Universal Income" Yang will be on the Ben Shapiro show

Ben Shapiro is what a stupid person thinks a smart person sounds like.

He’s a YouTube personality who constantly contradicts himself because his job is to get attention, not to be smart.

Yup... he previous employment came to a screeching halt when he discovered that he was hanging with the 'wrong' kind of people on the right. When a shitload of people point out that you are working for people that hate your kind and yet you ignore it, only to discover one day that they were right, you're a fucking moron. Their politics were a perfect fit for him until they weren't.

He's useful to the right because he's that fucking stupid.

The few times I've been able to listen to his nasally voice for more than 30 seconds I've found myself wondering if he's pathologically unable to say anything true. He lies like Trump lies. Blatantly, obviously, only the stupidest of stupid fucks would believe him. But he says it like he believes his own lies.

Care to cite any of those contradictions or lies?

Let's start with 5.

The stances I mentioned are documented and recent . So is he contradicting himself, an opportunist, or just lying?

And hosting someone who's diametrically opposed to your politics doesn't automatically make you enlightened; it just means you're good at drawing attention to your show. Jon Stewart was on Tucker Carlson's show, but that didn't change that Carlson is a dishonest, manipulative piece of scum.

He's much more than a youtube personality, he's a Republican operative that gets funded by the usual groups, plus is involved in election propaganda on behalf of the Russians--he was paid by Paul Manafort to push pro-Russian propaganda in Ukraine. This is why nothing he says makes any sense, he's a millionaire funded by right wing billionaries and is little more than their mouth piece. I'm not sure he would even have much traffic on his youtube platform if not for that.
