Gov of Arizona has picked former Sen Kyl to finish McCain’s term, he’s a huge supporter of Kavanaigh.

He’s more than a supporter. He was his guide through the nomination process. He’s also the least controversial pick they could have made to fill the seat given the other likely options.

McSally isn't Felonious Joe or Chemtrail Kelly but her record of voting as a far right whackjob is solid. From a practical point of view, sending McSally to the Senate would be the same as sending Arpaio or Ward, just less circus music.

I don't disagree with this. From a votes perspective it's the same thing. I think the AZ GOP would muuuch rather have an incumbent McSally to defend than Arpaio or Ward though.

I am thrilled to fail your test. He states in the public record that Presidents are accountable and investigations proper, then remarkably changes that as he's going to be on the ultimate protector of the Constitution and the rule of law, giving his appointer virtual immunity to any action he may take and can't even be investigated.

He was for it until someone tossed him an appointment and now he's against it. At the least he should recuse himself in Trump affairs and be damned if he will. He's in the bag for Trump and screw justice and law.

Not exactly true. Decent people would rather have someone who has not demonstrated the approval of corruption in reversing their stance even if they are not of the same ideology. Any left or right leaning justice who cannot demonstrate a better character than Kavanaugh is an inferior choice.

Of course, it may be possible that the requirement is both conservative and corrupt, or that all conservative choices are just plain corrupt by nature.

No. McCain himself didn't want to hold Trump accountable. If he did, he would have given up his seat well before May 30 when it was clear he was too sick to actually serve. Doing it before May 30 would allow the people to pick a new senator and thus hold Trump accountable. Rather he waited till after May 30 so that the seat would remain in republican hands for 5 years.
