What do you guys think?

1 If he ran under the democratic label could he get past the primaries?

2 Could he win?

3 Would he even want to do such a thing?

The problem is, he's too smart and loves his life too much to ever do anything that stupid.

The problem is he's smart. And that's apparently one of the qualifications that makes you ineligible for the presidency.

Thats funny. Because in other threads when people like Condi Rice were brought up as Presidential candidates, the left was saying intelligence alone does not qualify one to be President.. Kind of amazing how these things change based on who is being talked about. Should I dredge up that thread where people were jumping all over my comments saying she was qualified by saying that she is unqualified because she was never elected to a position in government?

And, I'm guessing by your statement, since you did not qualify it.. That you consider Bill Clinton unintelligent? I'm guessing you were referring to GWB however, but 5 years as him as President apparently makes a lifetime for you libbies.

Yes, 2 second comedy sound bites written by a team of writers makes you qualified to be President.. Being Governor of a massive state before becoming President makes you a moron.

he has a great liberal tv show, with very nice liberal ideas and points of views. i usually watch it. i also appreciate the fact that he brings on people with different viewpoints. we need more of that.

as for his audience, l ... i don't have kind words for them.

Crimson is right, Condi Rice is 100 times more qualified and smarter than Jon Stewart. But of course that doesn't mean Stewart is a bad choice for president.

he won't run. he has a great tv show with lots of success. why would he join something so stressful as politics?

i don't vote so i don't really care one way or another

maybe a Stewart-Colbert ticket doesn't sound too bad

What, Clinton wasn't smart? You can't judge the Presidency based on Boosh.
I doubt Stewart would want to be subjected to the Republican Dirty Tricks machine though. The Mafia ain't nutin' compared to those guys.

Intelligence way comes after the primary qualifications which are:
1) Caucasian
2) Male

unless the same person who wrote the above also wrote the thing about condi, its a moot point.
lighten up.
this isnt a serious thread.

edit: your piss-poor attitude toward comedy/comedy writers isnt helping your cause.
if you think stewart hasnt earned his chops, you are the fool. one isnt born into talent.

My point in the (QFT) is that smart sometimes appears intimidating to the average voter. People on both sides, kind of dumb down their speeches and such to appeal to the "regular guy." we both know that Bush and Clinton and Reagen and Nixon and Kennedy aren't stupid, they just act that way for appeal. Smart will get you the smart vote, but dumb will get you many more.

No, no, and no. And for one simple reason- Jon Stewart isn't well known. He is the host of a late-nite talk show on a cable network, most people have never seen him before. He has no political record, so the only thing they could base their opinions about would be past episodes and books. Neither is going to win him new votes. He would have a strong following, maybe even enough to be considered a 'serious' contender in the initial campaign season, but he would be unable to pick up voters along the way. If he left the Daily Show and went into politics today- he may be able to make a serious run in 2016 or so...

1 If he ran under the democratic label could he get past the primaries?
Probably not. None of the elderly folks know who he is.

2 Could he win?
Nope. Again, pretty much only the people between 15 and 35 really know who he is, it's not enough.

3 Would he even want to do such a thing?
I don't know, I'd need to ask him.

The thing is, as much as I like Mr. Stewart's comedy, he doesn't have any experience in the US Senate, as a Govener, etc.

He may be a very smart man, but to be president, I believe someone should have a lot of experience as a statesman. (Note, I don't consider GWB to be a true statesman either, nor was Kerry IMO.) I guess that's pretty much impossible though as I hate Bullcrap. Pretty much all experienced govenment officials spew out constant bullcrap.

QFT!!!!

I don't know who here lives in Jersey, but the two guys who won the primaries for the governor race this fall are both rich ex business men. Forrester is the republican (I think he made his money in Real Estate?) and Corzine was an exec at Goldman Sachs.

Liberal concepts never work out in the real world. Would someone please point out one that has...

Being a smart liberal is one thing. Being useful is another. No, Jon Stewart would not be a good president as he is nothing but a smarmy, liberal, elitist who has no connection with the common American. As a matter of fact, his show typically attacks all non elitist institutions and thinkers.
