After reading this thread, I'm shocked at how gullible people are. I guess when you want to believe, people will believe anything. I was expecting to hear more people say that it is only a hoax, and that they're disappointed their fellow ATOTers would think otherwise. I know I certainly am.

It's very interesting to read, but have some common sense people. I mean some of his posts are just downright funny.

If, in fact, this guy was for real, why wouldn't he just give people his info on where he was as a 2 year old in 2000 (he states he was born in 98) so someone could go and check? If not that, why not whip out his sports almanac (BTTF style!) and tell us the winners for 5 consecutive sports events, etc? There are so many ways this guy could have proved that he was "real," but instead gave vague, unrelated answers.

Come on, you guys.

This is funny as well since Omaha Nebraska is a first strike nuclear target as that is where Strategic Air Command is located at.

Here is link to stock trader story...Hoax

I am inclined to believe that John Titor is legit. Particularly, the hints about our bogus election process being a key trigger in the civil war lend credibility to his claims (his claims were made over 2 years before this stuff started becoming well known).
His prediction that CERN would create a micro-singularity within a year of his postings has also panned out.

The thing about the 2038 bug is not at all impressive because anyone could figure that one out right now, it's been well known a long time before 2000 (C & UNIX time rolls over on Jan. 19, 2038, I was amazed in all the Y2K bug hysteria on the news in 98 and 99 that noone ever mentioned this - No sane programmer actually stores dates as a string, so Y2K was just a user-interface issue, making all the places it affected quite obvious. The 2038 issue is on a completely different scale. The thing is he didn't need to be a time traveler to know this.

The thing that seemed totally off to me (*if* he is legit), is that he said they don't know any more about UFOs in 2036 than we do now. I would think that controlling microsingularities to use them to travel through time would be more difficult to pull off than using them to travel through space, and that someone would have taken a trip to Zeta-Reticuli 2 to check if there really are little grey guys there long before the point where we could do controlled time travel.

The laser beam is supposedly intentionally aimed to go right near the microsingularities so that it will bend. These microsingularities have an event horizon about the diameter of an electron, and are suspended in space by a really strong magnetic field. The area where the "pilot" sits would not have a gravitational field strong enough to bend the light like that.

The real problem with this pic is the bend is not "tight" enough for the bending to be for the stated reason. The strong gravitational field is supposed to be so confined it would look more like the light turns a corner, not a SMOOTH bend. It would make more sense if that was the electromagnetic field bending the light.

I don't believe in this, but I find the whole thing fascinating. "John Titor" certainly seemed to be a really smart guy, and his story is internally coherent to the best of my knowledge. God knows he seems a lot more knowledgeable in physics than me. I don't really buy the whole notion that we are about to enter a massive civil war, but I guess we will find out soon enough.

NOcturnal,

OK - I've joined the discussion.

I don't think that I'll re-post all the information about him at this time...much too long.

Anyway, the persona behind Titor would be posting under another name on a board just like this one. He was posting on tech boards at least 9 months after he "left." This is second hand information given to me - I have no way to verify the veracity of it.

Anyway, because this is a tech board I'd like to post one of his drawings to see if anyone has a clue. It is a cutaway schematic of what appears to be a vacuum tube based piece of hardware. Here's the link:

C204 Schematic Drawing

It's the last scanned drawing (8th drawing) just before the photos begin.

Does anyone have a clue about the gadget depicted? It was suggested to me that it's a pre-Arpanet server but I simply don't know.

I say yes because it's possible. Nothing is definately false about what he says. Anything is possible and we have nothing solid about time travel so how can we say his theory of time travel is wrong or that his evidence is incorrect. I think the only way to prove this is wrong is to make a time machine I think the mail bag at [link]http://www.johntitor.com/[/link] is a very good read if your suspicious.

BTW I mean yes as in this should not be dismissed, not as in I definately think that billions of people will die in a few decades.

One reason I tend to believe is with the presidential election coming up and if President Bush gets re-elected the liberals will have their fits and eventually lead to a civil war. However, for that reason I tend to disbelieve. "John" said he is from Florida and Florida had the most issues in the past election. He is just another liberal Democrat who can't let the past and the results stand.

I missed the wording of the 5100 computer, I thought it was the actual computer he took. My fault! But still, who keeps a computer that clean!? Even my black dell computers have faded to that dirty yellow.

I like to believe that time travel and space travel are both in our near future weather they are top secret or not. But that doesn't mean I believe or disbelieve John. I posted earlier with a like to Steve's video. I head that there is a video of "John", fake or not I would like to see it. If anyone has found that video please post it (I can't find it).

Final thoughts: I think John was well educated (or seriously good with google) but not from 2036.

i dont deny the possibility of time travel, but there are too many nutcases and attention whores in the world to make these things believable

I suffer Obsessive Compulsive Disorder lol.

Dighn, did you by any chance see the pictures of this guys so called time machine?

hadn't before but i just went to check them out you mean these ? http://www.johntitor.com/JohnsPictures.htm

very vague and frankly anyone could come up with something like that and call it a time machine

Well those and there is another site, anomolies.net with an archieve of pictures. The link you posted only has two pics of the supposed blue print. At the anomolies.net site there are actual photos of the so called "time machine".

Links to the pictures of his so called time machine.

Whoa, i want to pick up a military surplus rocket box and build a model of that thing.

Then sell it on fleabay for lots of proffit, those people will buy anything.

Definately a good idea.

Actualy didn't he say he was born in 1999 or something? You should go find him and do something bad.

Its like terminator, except you dont have to travel into the past, and your not a machine, and the machines don't take over the world in the future.

Ok so its nothing like terminator.

Come on, you guys.

Well, wasn't there a point where he said something like "the superbowl turned out different than i rememberd it" kind of comments? I predict that When 2005 comes and the civil war doesn't show up that everyone who belives it will spout off some alternate reality stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else showed up with a similar claim as old john at some point telling us we have to go back to the future with him to save our kids from a bank robbery.

Wait what was i saying again?

I checked on locateme, and there is no record of a John Titor born in 1998. It makes sense that he would not use his real name, however.

Gravitational fields do not bend light. Light has no mass and is not affected by gravity. Gravitational fields on a black hole scale are suspected to bend space time causing the light to bend. No clue what happens to matter when you bend spacetime, it could be that nothing happens to it. Or it could be that you dont get that close. Or it could be that its photochoped.

Anyone else besides me skeptical about this guy?

The reason I didn't put a "maybe" is because I want simple yes you believe, or no you don't believe.

Edit

Does anyone here think that lady Pamela from the Anomolies website is an obese woman who is really trying hard to believe that John existed? She said she had dreams, and weird occurances that happend because she had exchanged e-mails with him while he was back in the future.
Are you retarded or merely stupid?
