Nothing like a proud psychopath; of course, they go together.

Stop trolling, asshole. Do you really have to bring religion into this just for the sake of bashing it? :frown:
Why not, you guys brought your Psuedo Patriotism into it.

My patriotism is none of your damn business. And nobody brought patriotism into the conversation because it had nothing to do with the conversation but wanted to bash it anyway. Why the hell are you attacking people for their views, anyway, old man? I don't see you adding to this conversation at all. If you're so much the wiser, set a goddamn example.
You are a fine one to talk fatboy!

Atleast I voice my opinion along with why I think that way instead of coming in here and making fun of people without really adding anything else to the forum.

You just broke a comandment, don't you have to say some hail marys or something? Taking the lord's name in vain... shame on you.

Dude, the way I see it, you attack the other person first for their view.

I always thought John Walker Lindh should've been strip of his citizenship.

If I disagree with someone, I'll disagree with them and back it up. Red Dawn just makes fun of people without really adding anything else most of the time. That's my entire point.

1) Thankfully, I'm not Catholic
2) I have a different opinion on what "taking the Lord's name in vain" is

Why is it that when an American criticizes the system you are all coming out of the woodwork to say "Well if you don't like it then leave. We don't want you here", but when somebody does leave you are all jumping over each other to nail him to the wall for being a traitor?

that's a stupid analogy. This guy was taking up arms against US soldiers. We don't tell epople to leave and kill americans, we just tell them to leave.

Interpretive Christianity, huh? Is that the version where instead of practicing forgiveness and reserving judgement to god, you hope that people you don't like get murdered in prison?

Ah I'll compare my posts to yours any day of the week, especially in the Political Threads and confidently say that I add much, much more to discussions in this Forum that you do. Of course after reading your posts that really isn't saying much.

Why is it that when that somebody leaves, and then takes up arms against the US and US soldiers, but is subsequently captured, that person suddenly didn't leave, but was instead "a mixed up youth" "who'd been duped" and "whose butt [his father] would like to kick a little."

I have no sympathy for that POS at all.

BTW: The best way to avoid getting attacked in prison...AVOID DOING SH1T THAT WILL GET YOU SENT TO PRISON!

1. He took up arms against the Nothern Alliance before Sept. 11. He didn't know the U.S. was going to be attacked. He didn't shoot at Americans, and the US never even declared war against the Taliban. How exactly is he a traitor?

2. You get sent to jail before you're ever convicted. Sometimes, if you can come up with large amounts of cash, they let you out until your trial. Someone who is guilty of nothing, and is later found not-guilty by a jury can still end up spending a good amount of time in jail. So to stay out of jail, you'd have to avoid being accused of a crime by the police, which isn't in your control at all. Especially if you're declared an "enemy combatant" by the US where they're allowed to keep you indefinitely before ever charging you or convicting you.

I've never heard of Interpretive Christianity. Since the entire religion (and all other religions) have interpretation as one of the necessary building blocks, you'd think interpretation wasn't a bad thing.
But this is another thread entirely. My faith says that I shouldn't feel the way I do, but too bad. I'm human. Fry the bastard.

He had to have known what was happening, if he atleast didn't know ahead of time. If he actually cared, he would have left the Taliban when they attacked the U.S. instead of sit around still supporting them during the retalliation. But maybe he couldn't leave, you say. Maybe you can never leave the Taliban unless it's in a pine box or something? Too bad.

Perhaps I don't know the whole story, but the way I heard it was that he took up arms for the Taliban and then America took up arms against them, in that order. I don't think he went over there thinking "Oh boy, I'm gonna get to kill me some Americans!!" It just kinda turned out that the cause he committed himself to came in to conflict with his former country.

Exactly.

I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't have tried him as an American traitor...we should've dealt with him the same way we dealt with the Afghani Taliban we captured. The guy left his loyalties when he left this country. He wasn't going to abandon his new ties and not take up arms against his former countrymen when we started attacking them. The guy doesn't deserve to be treated as an American. Its not like he was selling secrets to the Taliban from inside the state department.

yes, especially since he pleaded guilty

This is what he pled guilty to:

"On July 15, after his lawyers negotiated an agreement with government prosecutors, John Walker Lindh pled guilty to violating a 1999 federal regulation banning the provision of services to the Taliban, a felony charge with a maximum sentence of ten years. Because Lindh, as a Taliban soldier, carried grenades and an assault rifle, he agreed to an additional ten years for using a firearm in the commission of a felony."

The whole case against him was beat out of him by 54 days of torture which he tried to recind and explian the torture but a gag order was placed on him. And no I don't trust the govenment when the treat the accused like that. He should have had normal arrainment and a right to lawyer is they planned to try him over here. Agian who did he hurt to justify death ashcroft sought. The feds never said he was Al Queda they called him the "american taliban". If we are going to get confessions this way them everyone arressed would be guilty.

I'm not trying to spread any faith, just pointing out some of the problems with yours. Based on the content of your posts, you have stronger alleigences to AT&T Boradband than you do to your religion. You'll defend AT&T to the bitter end, but you start ignoring your christian principles as soon as you get angry at some guy you never met who moved halfway around the world. People just like you are the ones that complain that America is in a downward spiral because of the lack of Christian morals...
give me a break.
