How is Lifemapper for a non-technical person with AOL?

Whatever project will need to be able to run for a week (Celeron 900 5-6 hrs/day) without getting new work or uploading units, and shouldn't ask the user to connect to the net. Preferably, it would sense the network connection and do its business without user intervention.

From the FAQ:
Question: Can I download a batch of work units so I do not have to connect each time (I have a dial-up connection)?
Answer: Not at this time. We put this feature request on the team's discussion list for possible future implementations. We agree that this feature is essential for many of our users.

That FAQ is outdated. The Cli client is able to cache up to 200 work unit and be set to offline crunching now by using the -c and -f switches. Once it hits the cache amount, the client should go online and dl more work units and ul all resualts. This is with broadband, I don't know if this feature works with dial-up.

Thanks for pointing this out. Just updated the "cache" post on FAQ. It looks like the TeAm is back in the race.. Have fun.

I'm in w a p4 2.8. Once I hit 50K in SETI a little more than two weeks from now I'll start switching over some of my fleet a little at a time.

Contenders :

- P4B 2.6@3400 ( bad cooler, ought to run at 3600 with new one )

I left yesterday night both of them running LF, with 2 instances on the C and 1 on the B.
Arrived about 1 hour ago, and had :
- 125 wu done on the C
- 94 wu done on the B

Thus, it gives 3,93 wu and 2,76 wu for every 100Mhz, respectively.

Here show the power of HT

Just changed the mem on the P4@3400, going from 340 to 450mhz
Also, the FSB of the P4C was raised from 260 to 268
Now, this two babies are outputting almost 300wu a day...

I 've joined the team ... but the client downloads too much data for my slow modem connection. I will have to quit unless if there is a way to transfer work units from the computer which has a faster connection.

Hey dkappos! Welcome

Yeah they are a bit big...Transferring the wu aren't a problem, just cut the JobPacket.dat files from the one pc and paste them on the other one. Plz ask if you've still got any questions.

@dkappos:

What borg said works perfect. I did the same for my laptop with a 5,6k dialup. I downloaded 200 WUs with a DSL connection and just transfered them (via USB pen) to my lappy!

Hello from TeamECO!

I see you have been busy little bees lately...

My, your competitive streak is more like a giant smear!

I happen to be one of the BBR DC participants who joined my Team Starfire comrades at the begining of the year.
It gave me a look at TeAm's devotion to building stats.
I freely admit I was caught up in the race for a couple months. Whew.

I would like to use what I learned about the friendly rivalry on that project and bring it to this one.
It showed me how important it is to stick to forum ettiquette to avoid flameouts and wasted time reading dumb posts.
I feel TA_Engineer among others showed grace and class through it all.

BBR Team ECO/LM is very much involved with the evolution of the project since it started. I feel we are pretty laid back about it and focus on running it much more than stat watching.
The LM Admins have been open and available for support and values user input. I have never had the experience before of working so closely with programmers and Admin on a serious project like this one. What a unique opportunity!

It would be great if we could share info etc. to help out the project and have fun between our two teams.

Please feel free to drop by our forum:

Bye for now,
-ko
