is it still in the task bar?

also I never had much luck with the -f switch

I had trouble like that on one occasion...iirc it was a corrupt file
I installed and deleted it a few times before i got tired and tried re downloding it

after that it did fine

tried to find the thread(where it did the same to me) but it must have been in the chat as there is no record on here sorry

is the cli faster than just running the gui as a background app and having it be down by the clock in windows? also, if i run the cli version, is there any way for me to tell how much progress i have made?

no no i was asking if there is any kind of add-on or anything to check how far i am into the progress of a workunit before i upload it. kind of like a seti driver or setispy that allows me to check progress?

ok one more dumb question until i reach my quota and wont ask anymore.....how much faster is the cli compared to the gui? is there any documented quickness increase or can someone provide me with some times that could prove this? i know its a pain in the ass but i like to be as difficult as possible

When I started LM, I ran the GUI for a while, now I'm honestly not sure about the times, but If I remember correctly, the CLI is +- twice as fast... Running it on the desktop, not as a service. If you really want to know, I'll crunch a job with the GUI to give you an exect time.
You can also check the LM Forum for additional info.

Oh and don't worry about asking...bring on the question!

yeah what im doing is just running the gui in background mode and having it minimized to the system tray. i checked the LM forums and there isnt really much to say about the cli vs. gui in windows. i saw a linux vs. windows comparison for the cli but thats it...

Overkiller, what I suggest is, remove all the current LM installations you have. Remove.bat for the service
Edit the .reg file as needed.
Install the service with install.bat
Stop the services
Go to the folder containing the LM files ie: Program Files\LifemapperCLI\....
Edit the LifemapperCLI1.bat and ...2.bat with the same info you edited the .reg file with
Run each batch file till it starts downloading jobs and starts crunching
Then close them and start the services again.
Most of the times, I run the bat files first to make sure everything is working before I leave them running as a service.

If we still can't get this working, we should meet in the TeAm chat room, that would make this a lot easier...

So give it a try and plz let us know. We really want more TeAmMates, so we would really like to get this sorted out before you give up on us!

Unforgiven, one GUI crunched job coming up!

edit: OK, I did a wu with the GUI. The CLI does a wu on my XP 2600 in <13min. It took the GUI exactly 45min to complete one wu and also the CPU usage stayed between 84-89% the whole time.

Hope that's what you were looking for.

Wow, that's a huge difference between the gui and cli! I never was much for running the gui except when I first started running seti.

thats the kind of hardcore proof im looking for. i typically start with the gui on these types of things unless their is an overwhelming difference with the cli. thank you for taking the time to produce those results. im sold and ill be bringing 2 low end boxes over to the project now. thank you very much you know, sometimes the greatest recruiting tool is just a helping hand when someone needs it!

Lifemapper is a fun project with fast workunits and a smaller user base so its fairly easy to climb the ranks. It runs on just about any older machine as well

.We are mapping the different species of animal / fish etc and their enviroments, for such things as relocation, endangered animals and their habitats are mapped to see where they could potentially live,etc...

A 2.8 should produce around 40 wu's a day, while even a p200 should produce 1 a day.
It can be run as a service a gui or a cli.

Stats are posted by Amdxborg.Geoffs and Darkness Productions also have added stats that are great additions to the Offical stats pages. There are many helpful sites to get you started:
amdxborg's site
Reddeyexpress projects
service installer files
as well as The lifemapper website

We hope you check it out and join the team
