Joining the ranks of SoB......... will be adding a quad or two (or three)

So, I've decided to diversify my crunching a little and would like to join SoB and have a question or two:

Is it better to run one instance of SoB or four on each system?

Currently have 4 instances installed as a service on one quad based system and they seem to be working fine. Good way to go? Is there any way to compare my output versus another person?

Any contests going on to join for team Anandtech?

We currently have a race going on within the TeAm. It look like you will become part of The Significant Others (TSO), unless PeterN or RaySun2Be recruited you.


As far as the set up of the client, it looks like you have it running they way I would run it. Run as a service with 4 instances going at once for the quad core. You just appeared in the latest update on the FreeDC stats: New User!!

Nobody and everybody recruited me.... it's like, you know how you pass a room, you peek in and everyone is having a good time? That's the impression I got from this group of crunchers- so I just opened the door and stepped in! :thumbsup:


OK- another question...

Does this client work similar to the F@H client where it uses spare cycles and gives them up when other work is being performed? I have another quad system that I use for work and would like to install the SoB client on that system as well....

Yes it does. I have had issues with the service install on a Win2K Pro desktop, but I upgraded to WinXP Pro and no issues. I run the service install on my laptop, and I never notice it at all.
