Jon Stewart attacks Congress and rightfully so, as Republicans could not care less about 9/11 responders.

Yeah, I remember the time when Bush's Iraq war was dragging on and on and on and the cost of taking care of those thousands upon thousands of wounded warriors that came back home started piling up and over the fiscal walls of the then Repub owned treasury that they were ransacking at the time.

Bush's response was to try to cut back on veteran's benefits and the care owed to them because the war machine was still running at a gallop, needed to be fed obscene amounts of cash that was draining the budget right into Halliburton's pockets.

And now we have Bolton (again) poking that hot branding iron of his at the dogs of war, hoping to enrage it enough to break its chains and start that Bushshit all over again.

See what happens if the nation decides to give Trump another four years to really get us where Putin wants us.

Let's not forget that the original Compensation Fund Act was passed in 2010 by dems after a year long delay caused by repeated GOP filibustering of the bill. I fear sometimes people have short memories.

No one seems to have a list of those who did not attend the hearing. Not that it's any great mystery.

Wow, that was an emotional pummeling by Stewart.

Eloquent, compelling and as passionate and sincere as any one person could be about the causes they support.

I wish he would enter into the political arena as a candidate for some office. He'd do an excellent job of it I dare say.

I do question...this happened in NYC to NYC personnel. Firefighters, police, etc....why is it a federal thing not NYC/NY State?

If NK dropped a nuke on Miami, is it just a Florida responsibility on the clean up?

What's the point of even having a federal government then?

Who the hell could be opposing this?

Trump is spending billions in farmer bailouts due to his failed trade war.

Trump is stealing billions from defense projects to build a couple of measly miles of useless wall.

We've spent trillions on useless tax cuts for billionaires.

They cry over the lost rape babies women don't want to carry.

But no one can come up money to treat a 9/11 firefighter's fucking cancer?

Shameful and vile. Their souls should burn in hell if they actually had one.

Inconceivable that we would treat these men and women in this way.

The state certainly could help if it wants. But they were responding to a foreign terror attack funded by and executed by foreigners. That seems exactly like a thing that a federal government should handle.

Yea, it wasn't "death to New Yorkers" , it's death to Americans.

Very moving. Our government is sick. Needs to be dismantled and restaffed. People need to take back the real power and vote every single (DEM and GOP) out. Time for new blood that isnt drowning in lobbyist money. And make it known no one i safe and we will always vote these shills out, on either party.

Stolen from Reddit:

According to Avi Bueno on twitter, in the video, and during this portion of the hearings, 5/8 Democrats were present. The ones missing were:

Eric Swalwell
Sylvia Garcia
Victoria Escobar

2/6 Republicans were present. The ones missing were:

Louie Gohmert
Jim Jordan
Guy Reschenthaler
Kelly Armstrong

Source:

From the Washington Post:

'Reps. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Guy Reschenthaler (R-Penn.) were the only two subcommittee members who did not attend, said Daniel Schwarz, a spokesman for subcommittee chairman Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.). Other members cycled in and out of the hearing, Schwarz said.'

The "defense" of why some were not in attendance is that a lot of subcommittee meetings take place at the same time. And a lot of Senators are on multiple subcommittees so they have to pick and choose which ones they can physically attend.

Pretty sure that sounds like a really shitty system.

I agree - let Florida, Louisiana, the Carolinas etc all deal with their hurricane relief on their own. And don't even get me started on those hippies in California asking for help with their forest fires.

We need a list of the other subcommittee meetings at that time. Wonder what was more important the 9/11 first responders?

Never underestimate how much Republicans hate NY/NJ and all who live there. They tried to force spending cuts in return for giving aid to the area post-Sandy. Try that with Florida or Texas.

Good reason not to vote Republican next year.

4 Republicans No showed
3 Democrats No showed

Quit making this partisan political. Every single one of them is a piece of shit for not attending - and every single one of them is a piece of shit that it even has to come to this. We shouldn't even be having meetings on this in the first place.
