Unanimously passed- Looks like Jon was heard.
Unfortunately, I suspect this isn't much of a victory in his eyes. Glad he has the passion for it.Unanimously passed- Looks like Jon was heard.
Isn't that just the House? Wait till the turtle get a hold of it and buries like he's done on all Democratic legislation.Unanimously passed- Looks like Jon was heard.
To be accurate4 Republicans No showed
3 Democrats No showed
Quit making this partisan political. Every single one of them is a piece of shit for not attending - and every single one of them is a piece of shit that it even has to come to this. We shouldn't even be having meetings on this in the first place.
To be accurate
62.5% of Democrats were present
33.3% of Republicans were present
Not exactly #bothsides

Before you #bothsides this, let's wait and see if your boy Moscow Mitch lets it pass the senate.
Actually, seeing as Trump is desperate to not look like an ignorant douchebag, to have some kind of win to hang from his hidden from view belt, I kinda hope he tries to capitalize on some easy red PR meat here. It could be timely and possibly meaningful, who knows?
C'mon Trump, "disgraceful" is one of the few remaining words in your lexicon, and here's a legitimate cause to use it. Get in there Cadet Bonespurs, people infinitely braver than you are in need. Seems only right since so much of GOP is out straight, busy as hell trying to cover up your Russian ball fondling and obstruction from prying Congressional eyes.
40 Wall Street: ‘And now it’s the tallest.’
The landmark 72-story tower, 40 Wall Street, is commonly known as the Trump Building. After the terrorist attacks, Mr. Trump applied for and received $150,000 from a New York State recovery fund for small businesses. (Though Mr. Trump owns a business empire, he was eligible because the Trump-owned entity controlling 40 Wall Street had fewer than 500 employees, according to reports.)
Mr. Trump has said the money was an automatic reimbursement for housing volunteers and emergency personnel who responded to the devastation.
But the application filed with the Empire State Development Corporation, which operated the fund, was for cleanup, repair and loss of rental income, according to a New York Daily News investigation. The day of the attacks, Mr. Trump said his building, about seven blocks from where the Trade Center stood, was unscathed.
Representative Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat from New York City who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, went so far on Sunday as to say Mr. Trump “stole” the funds. The 40 Wall Street episode, Mr. Nadler said on CNN, shortly after the video of Ms. Omar was shared, undermined the president's condemnation of her.
“He has no moral authority to be talking about 9/11 at all,” Mr. Nadler said.
The building also came up during a television interview with Mr. Trump on Sept. 11, 2001.
“40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest — and then, when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second tallest,” Mr. Trump said on WWOR-TV. “And now it’s the tallest.”
The state certainly could help if it wants. But they were responding to a foreign terror attack funded by and executed by foreigners. That seems exactly like a thing that a federal government should handle.
Their medical costs arise directly from working at the site of a terrorist attack. I see no reason why the federal government cannot chip in, especially when you had people like the EPA secretary saying months after the attack that the air was fine.Don't misunderstand...I'm fine with the feds paying...but their medical costs should be covered 100% by NY worker's comp. There shouldn't be even a sliver of hesitation of paying those costs.
Come on...the (R)'s don't give a single shit about the vets who get blown up in the wars they start, why the fuck would anyone think they'd give a shit about the first responders?
You're making this partisan when it shouldn't. We shouldn't even have a council/meeting on this. It's a fucking no-brainer.
same is true with all politicians.
I do question...this happened in NYC to NYC personnel. Firefighters, police, etc....why is it a federal thing not NYC/NY State?

The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund ("VCF") was created to provide compensation for any individual (or a personal representative of a deceased individual) who suffered physical harm or was killed as a result of the terrorist-related aircraft crashes of September 11, 2001 or the debris removal efforts that took place in the immediate aftermath of those crashes.
same is true with all politicians.
Rand Paul just helped to block bringing the bill to a vote in the Senate because he wants spending cuts because of the debt and deficit. As a typical Republican, he had no problem voting for the debt and deficit exploding tax cuts though... What a hypocritical shithead.
