also, having shit for brains is usually not the path to success. (not saying that about you--honestly--just saying. It's not as easy as being a "stoner with a guitar")

But I do know that Joni Mitchell has more musical talent in an eyebrow strand than anyone posting in this thread.

Perhaps, though my creative side is limited I don't see much out of the ordinary with her. But then again, I think the Internet ruined individual artists, by not only inspiring copycats, but exposing similar with less resources.


Edit: She seems old enough I should know about her (I'm 25) but I don't =(

She has more vocal talent than just about all the leading figures of today's music scene. She was part of the music world that had many people with actual talent and that generation is now dying off.

I wonder, when the current generation gets old and begins to fade away will the younger folks then reminisce about music sampling and canned music the way we reminisce about Joni Mitchell's actual talent.

Heard this news on the radio on lunch yesterday. Always enjoyed her music - it puts me in a relaxed state of mind. Blue is a fantastic album... my mom always had that in her mix of albums playing when I was growing up. Hope she pulls through.

Edit: And holy shit Platy - that video is great. I love Methany. 'Musician' doesn't even begin to describe that guy.

BTW I don't mean that as a compliment.

KT (or others) if you are interested in exploring her music, stay away from the later stuff. She did an album a few years ago-basically a remake of her greatest hits with orchestra-that is torture to listen to. Decades of smoking totally trashed her voice.

Depends on what audience we are talking about, IMO. Overall, the Beatles changed music, but, for people under say 25, BSB is likely a greater factor in impactfullness in their influences.
