Jorts?

Okay I've heard a few smart comments about jean shorts here and there. I never paid attention to it but it seems they are a fashion disaster after some research. How bad are these to wear really? I wear mine every weekend and never paid attention to it. Am I the old guy that's sporting a mullet and a single cross earring and doesn't know how out of style I am?
Also what's a suitable replacement shorts?

I mostly wear the athletic/basketball shorts, but I'm young enough to be able to pull it off.

Might as well wear denim overalls with one side undone.

Although I have lot of basketball short, I prefer Cargo/Jeans shorts mostly due to pockets.

I'd only wear cut off jeans, and they're a bit snug for shorts use imo. I have no aesthetic problem with them. I prefer cutoff BDUs, They're looser, and I like the extra pockets.

Jean shorts were cool in the late 80's and early 90's. I haven't worn them since then, but I don't typically judge people who do, unless they are giving me a separate reason to do so. I will admit when I look at old pictures of me wearing them, it looks like I grew up in a trailer park.

If you're under 50, wearing jean shorts is just wrong. You should NEVER give up on life before 50, which would be the ONLY circumstance you should wear jean shorts.

I think they're fine if they aren't too short or long. If they're thigh high or mid calf you're doing something wrong.
