Sucks. I suspect we'll learn that they were drunk/high given that they seemed to slam into the jetties going full speed.

My buddy and I do a LOT of night fishing. No booze, and we both confirm (multiple times) that we're clear on the way into the inlet. And we don't come in at 40 mph... once we get close we back way down and come in slow despite having done the same trip hundreds of times. Need to be safe out there - especially at night.

This is a damn shame. Dude was a fixture and "hero" in the Cuban community. Was 5 months pregnant and from all accounts a really stand-up young kid. Toss on top of that his future in baseball and it's a crying shame to end up this way. The Marlin's game today will be surreal. He was scheduled to pitch today. Can't imagine the emotion that will be in the stadium.

Some people have no business operating boats and doing it at night takes knowledge of the area and caution. Not flying through the dark at high speed. This was a stupid accident that lands squarely on the driver of the boat. This was completely avoidable.
