Joystick mysteriously disconnects itself

Hello, I'm running Windows XP, and everytime I try to play a game involving my joystick (Sidewinder Gamepad Pro), it mysteriously connects and disconnects itself. It doesn't physically do it, but the connection/disconnection tones play and and my joystick becomes temporarily disabled. It does this over and over again for a short time every now and then. I'm not sure if it's my motherboard, or the joystick itself, or Windows XP, however this didn't happen with Windows ME, so I'm assuming it's the OS. Anyone know how to fix this or have any suggestions? Help would be greatly appreciated.

i have exactly the same problem with windows vista and my joysticks.

if i go to the control panel and to gamecontrollers i see that the joystick is connected, but then it will disconnect and conect again serveral times. so i am not even able to configure some settings for the joystick becvause it valways gets reset.

i have the problem with a mirosoft sidewinder joystick and also with a new saitek evo joystick.

i installed the latest microsoft servicepacks and the latest product drivers but nothing helped.

which mainboard are you useing?

I have the same problem with my N52 Nostromo game controller..one minute it is ok..the next it is disconnected. Maybe a USB thing even if I have not allowed my OS to turn the USB port off to save pwr. M/B is GA-EP45-UD3P.

By the way..the post by foahchon was written in 2002..I doubt he will still be checking back here..however..the rest of us are here to chime in and help.

hmmm oh... lol that post was from 2002... lol i havent seen this..,

i am pretty sure that is a bug somehow... but i think there are not many people useing a joystick / gamepad...

hmmm... tmorrow i am going to try it on my old pc... lets see on how it will rect on this machine
