My Microsoft Forcefeedback Pro joystick which was shown on my NEW Direct Mail computer as ? not connected ? HAS NOW BEEN FIXED !
This is the original Forcefeedback Pro, not the Pro 2 recently released by Microsoft.
For those of you with this stick who have recently bought a new computer or intend to, the fix is down to a UK technical support chap named OMAR-
I?m reasonably sure that below is the way to fix it , but I don?t guarantee it. As I say, Omar of UK Microsoft support guided me through it. Any doubts or difficulties should be sorted by reference to him.
If your Country?s support don?t know the answer, ask them to refer to him.
It would seem that there are three types of creative Soundblaster Live cards, one of which does not connect to the joystick. Guess which one was fitted to my system !!
This was the fix ? best I can remember
Go to device manager and double click on Sound ,video and game controllers .
You should get a
1. creative SB Live Value line ; and
2. a creative gameport joystick line
3.
Have a Windows 98 disc in the drive ( or 98SE or 98SE upgrade )
Double click on creative gameport joystick
Ask computer to look in the D:\ win98 ( if D is your cd rom drive ) for drivers.
It should find one and then if you load it , when you go back to device manager the line at 2 above should read ? gameport joystick ?
Then in Control panel/game controllers- remove any joystick and add the forcefeedback and it should show connected.
I hope this helps ? That is my intention. Whatever you do will be at your own risk- Please regard this as my legal disclaimer!
