I just got back from a weekend at the Sports Vintage Grand Prix, shot about 600 photos throughout the 3 days we were there. I come home, and ~500/600 are corrupted thanks to some fvucking thing. ( I BET it was that stupid $4 walmart USB cable.. i'm NEVER shopping there again..)
I know there are recovery tools for corrupted data while its still ON the digicam's memory card, but are there programs to recover corrupt jpegs AFTER they've been transferred?
I shot probably 6-8 CF cards full this weekend, transferred them to the laptop and reformatted in-camera after each download. The files downloaded to the computer just fine, but when I tried to copy the corrupt (i didnt know at the time) images to another computer, I got a cyclic redundancy error. Ran a scandisk on the laptop, attempted to copy to the other computer again and it went just fine. I thought "oh, its probably this screwy old laptop not generating previews correctly, the pictures will all be fine once I get them on the other PC!" But then I was greeted with this sh!t -

Sorry for the ramble (my weekend feels like a goddamn waste at this point), does anyone have anything to suggest? or am i up sh!t creek without a paddle?
