Judge orders force-feeding for convicted sniper

Muhammad had not eaten anything since being transferred to the Montgomery County, Maryland, jail on Monday, corrections officials said in court documents filed Thursday.

He was apparently upset with the food he was being served and the handling of his legal material.

Doctors had concluded that Muhammad, 44, was at risk of serious injury or death of he continued his hunger strike, corrections officials said.

Judge James L. Ryan issued an order allowing officials at the county jail to forcibly feed and hydrate him.

Why must we feed him and cost the taxpayers more money? If this crumb wants to starve to death then why don't we let him? Now we have to waste our money to force feed him? This is ridiculous.

The irony is that they will insist on keeping him alive until the day of his execution, then give him a lethal injection.

I guess I think that if a post-conviction inmate manages to polish himself off with a hunger strike, so be it.

As an attorney, I think it's safe to say the lawyers are to blame for keeping Mr. Muhammed and his ilk alive. There's simply too much liability attached to letting him die (though the prison is almost certainly damned if they do and damned if they don't, in that he can and very well may sue his hosts for keeping him alive) - what a world!

LOL, I don't think a hunger strike is an easy way out. Its a long and painful death.
