Jumpers on Epox 8KHA+

Hi y'all...

Just got this moboand am building my system from scratch. Already stuck on the first step! The manual is kinda vague to a newbie like me. What do I have to do before installing this mobo?

There are three settings in the manual:

JBAT 1
CMOS Clear
= 1-2 Normal (Default)
= 2-3 Clear CMOS


JCK1
CPU Host Clock Select
= 1-2 100MHz (Default)
= 2-3 133 MHz


LED2 Debug card on board (please
refer to Appendix B for POST
LED1 codes)


Can anybody put this into plain English for me??

No problem. Can you physically locate those jumpers on the board? Page 3-2 of the manual has a diagram to help you. Setting the jumper means taking the small connector on there and placing it over the 2 pins for whichever setting.

First is the "clear CMOS" jumper. If you set it to clear, it will erase your BIOS settings and let you start from scratch. Good if you're having system problems which are unresolvable any other way. Leave it on 1-2 for normal operation.

Second is the bus speed jumper. What CPU are you using? If it's a new Athlon (XP), set it to 133. Only if you're using an older Athlon chip would you set it to 100 MHz.

Post if you have more q's, I just installed one of these boards last night.

Edit: forgot the last part, the LED codes refer to the 2-digit LED display on the board. They will cycle as the system goes through the boot process, and will show you a code that is tied to a specific error if it encounters problems. It's just a trouble shooting aid.

Thanks, for the info, I am in the same boat, just started building mine from scratch. I assume I will use bank 1 for the 1 stick of 512DDR. Any advice on bios settings? I've got the 1800+ and downloaded recomendations on the RAM settings. From Muskins site.
