Let me know if you want to unload those U2412Ms on the cheap. I love mine and surround sounds like fun...

The no brainer is the UHD650 from Wasabi Mango for what looks to be $1500-1600?
for 65 inches, 4K, Freesync, it's still a monitor so good input lag times?

Yes!

So I guess we can make any monitor look like a no brainer if it's what we like =D.

I'd personally go for the Wasabi Mango UHD420 in that price range, but again, we're 2 different types of 4K buyers.

Poor uniformity on such a big display. Better off waiting for LG OLED prices to come down.

Then waiting for LG OLED freesync.
Then I probably should wait for 4K LG OLED Freesync 120hz.
Then 8k will be on the horizon.

Do you have a source for poor uniformity?

The official pages at OC for the UHD 420 and 490 have several people complaining about it. Mine is perfect in that aspect and no bleeding. My 27" had some bleeding not bad but it had some.

I've never tried the 65" but I did have the 42" briefly and I'd consider the uniformity crap compared to a decent 32" monitor with very visible light and dark areas on the screen during regular web browsing.

I don't know how people can still stomach sub-100dpi displays after looking at their high dpi mobile devices all day (with even budget phones being around 300dpi these days). 4K at 46"? No thanks.

27" seems like the sweet spot for 4K to me, striking a nice balance between pixel density and size (assuming your software scales), although I prefer 24".

I found the sweet spot to be higher than that, I have a 32" 4k panel and the PPI is much better than my old 2560x1600@30" Dell, and you get a bit of extra size to, it's about the smallest size screen for 4k where you can work in native res and not need to scale the OS, everything I've seen under 30" is too small to use and you have to contend with the bad scaling in windows.

If you believe 27inch is the sweet spot you haven't experienced a decent 40inch 4k monitor. For example the 40inch Phillips 4065. I went from 27inch 1920-1200 27inch 4k (a pointless size for such resolution) which I sold after barely using to 27inch 2560/1440 to 40inch 4k and guess what? The 40 inch 4k is simply in a different league to all the others by a country mile. It's dot pitch is very good as is it's picture quality. I'm getting ready for someone to wonder why they aren't making 14inch 4k monitors and proclaim that that is the sweet spot because it has a very small footprint.

Ya, I'm not remotely worried. If I'm unhappy, I'll return it. Big whoop. I won't be though.
As for LG OLED Freesync 4K?
Why would I wait for that. I'd just buy it when it comes out....

It's not like it'll be coming this year. Or next year. Although tbh, if it came out next year, I'd just buy it. OLED is a huge upgrade. Nothing wrong with having 2 65 inch monitors.

No one ever died from having too many big screen monitors/tvs/projectors!

I've never owned any large TV or HDTV (old freebie CRT TV at one point). Never used or owned an HDMI cable. I have a feeling I never will.

I had no idea such large 4k monitors existed, thought there were only TV's. Glad I read this lol.

How do you watch a movie?

Please don't tell me sitting at your desk

I usually don't, don't think I've ever rented or paid to stream anything myself. Most of what I have watched was on somebody elses TV. When I was a kid it was the family TV (OTA w/ antenna or VHS rental). Now sometimes I go over to other people houses and watch a movie or show. I still visit with a family member at least once a month or so, I've got three "local". Occasionally I'll go to a theater with somebody. I got one friend as well, watched a few movies/shows at his place.

But yes, if there is something specific I want to watch I can borrow somebodies online account (netflix amazon etc) and watch it on my CRT monitor (19.8" viewable). Since I run 1920x1440 I can watch full 1080 with black bars. I do occasionally read some anime/manga etc on my monitor as well. So far I haven't felt like I'm missing out on stuff, I seem to catch most of the "blockbusters" eventually.

Installed this monitor today, I am sold on 4K for PC's I can have two browsers side by side. Text and everything is very clear. Definitely worth the upgrade. I can sit further back from the screen, its a very comfortable way to work.

Wow Dell hits another out of the park. The uniformity, colors and contrast are spot on. I did not have to mess with any controls or video card settings. Very easy on the eyes. The fact that for 520 bucks you get a monitor of this caliber with 3 years pro warranty (ie they send you a new monitor right away and you send the bad one back) and pre calibrated from the factory with report.

So far so good.

I can attest to Dell support coming out VERY quickly. I'd still watch them repair your device, but they are quick.

Okay the monitor passes the test. all the U2412Ms are gonna get swapped out with P2715Q's they are excellent monitors for productivity use.

Once you get used to 4K you don't go back. (ie NYSE Open book, Nasdaq totalview,CBOE C2, etc..) I can fit all the books for the strikes I am working on one screen!!

I found that the dpi of a 1440 27inch monitor was the one that was spot on for me. The moment I felt the 4k itch, I went with a AMH A399U 4K monitor. It's pretty good for the price but I wouldn't recommend it for hardcore gamers. For everything else, it's pretty darn good. The DPI is nearly identical to the 27 inch 1440 monitor. Plus, my vision sucks. So it's a win - win.

Not sure what the point is really.

Almost sounds like another poster on the forums that I won't name that sounded proud that he was still using dial up after 2000.
