Just a small rant - Stop pairing hi-end headphones to DAPs.

Why in the hell do you care what we do?

I have some nice Sony studio circumaural headphones that I use for my MP3 player, Blackberry, or netbook. I like the sound they provide compared to earbuds and I take them to school quite often as they do limit outside noise. They are not noise canceling, but due to their circumaural nature they do limit outside noises.

very short sighted rant. the headphones aren't married to a single device. the best device for that person to use at any time will change depend on their cirumstance. should they have a pair of headphones for their ipod and a separate pair for their a"shin-approved" device?

I have a pair of hd580s. When I listened to them through my DAP (before I got a headphone amp), it was sad to hear them physically hit a wall because they have such a high impedance. Something like the Grado SR-60s don't have to have an amp to sound good though because they have a low impedance.

I use Sony MDR-V150's with my computer's onboard headphone out and listen to MP3's, some as low as 160kbs.

Pure aural euphoria.

Just because the headphones are good enough to reveal source limitations doesn't mean they don't still sound better than crappy headphones on the same source. Your fidelity will always be limited by something.
