I mainly watch MSNBC but also CNN and sometimes Bloomberg. I think there's someone else too.

Anyway, regarding the debt limit, I'm seeing a lot more Pubs getting air time on the first two. I mainly check BB only if I need/want to check in on the markets.

I'm guessing a lot of you never tune in to any of those but if you do, is that also your perception.

Thought about it and decided on no poll for this but I'm pretty sure that can be changed.

Yeah. I think they realize that normalizing and giving voice to lying, shitty people is financially good for them. Something they learned in 2015+and didn't take enough advantage of at the time.

I was hoping for more of them challenging the lies the Republicans tell but clearly they dropped the ball when they aired Trump's BS-fest. Of course, maybe its the Deep State getting him to publicly admit his malfeasance.

CNN now effectively controlled by a right wing extremist who is gradually shifting their coverage into Fox-lite (still work in progress)

MSNBC news shows still generally follows the anachronistic practice of giving fair air time to both sides, even when one "side" is completely insane, but I haven't watched enough to say if this has changed recently - although their talk shows still lean quite left.

Bloomberg is just reliably pro big-business on every topic, which generally means giving lots more air time to Republicans

News disappoints. I don't want to see some beligerant Texan Repugnicant saying "nobody should vote for this." Youtube has the other side... AOC, BTC, etc.

I feel the same way, which is why I just don't 'watch' news on any channel. I get news in text from AP/Reuters for the most part, and sometimes will find other stories through reddit or twitter. It's a lot easier and less angering to read shitty things that Pubs say, relative to listening them smugly and proudly bleat lies on camera to the millions.

I hadn't watched any on TV in decades, and from what I've been hearing/reading, my reasoning has only been more justified as of late. Whether a "news" outlet leans left or right...it's still crooked to me.

I have been watching the news. It's not Fox News (I never watch them, don't have subscription TV and if I did I wouldn't watch them anyway). The network news programs are anti-Q, always say the election deniers don't have a leg to stand on, so I like them for that. I should look more for alternatives sources than I do. I am subscribed to NYTimes online and a lot of smart people contribute. Some of their writers and invited opinion purveyors are weak, but some are quite strong. They allow reader comments on a lot of their articles and lots of that is as interesting as the stories or more so. And I come here, of course. I am watching TV news less religiously than I was during the pandemic. I skip days a lot. I know what the major stories are. There's a lot of depressing stuff but figure it's a lot because the world is fucked up. Anyway, I have a plate full of projects that demand my best attention. Watching TV news is egregiously easy. It very often sucks the energy out of me. But I want to know. It's a quandary. I go to YTube sometimes, usually for something else but YT entices you with stuff (me, anyway) because it keeps data on what I've seen and makes _suggestions_. Seems to know a lot about what interests me. Not sure I should like or dislike that, but it does present a lot of stuff that I would never know about if I didn't see and access it. Of course, I don't have to watch any particular video to completion. And, of course, I skip tons of stuff I could watch but decide I don't want to. I have a ton of interests... of various kinds.

I lived for 2 straight decades with no television. Finally bought a used 20" TV in late 1980's at a shop and a new 20" JVC about 1989 (my last CRT TV). There's a ton of TV stuff that the "general public" is steeped in that I have never seen, have zero idea what it was about. It doesn't bother me.

Beverly Hillbillies, Dallas, The Apprentice, Gilligan's Island, ... the list goes on and on. Even after I got a TV I didn't watch any sitcoms or dramatic TV programming with few exceptions. I have never seen a lick of that stuff.

I did watch The Simpsons and a bunch of Seinfeld, really that's about it beyond news and some sports.

This was obvious when recently CNN started covering those "space abnormality conspiracies" of late. Getting Anderson Cooper to sit there engaging about the possibility of space aliens landing and space ships circling the earth was a new low for Anderson. His show sounded like some tabloid rag sheet. Once upon a time Anderson had some credibility, but now? He's a joke. His reporting is a joke. Obviously, the paycheck is plenty enough to sell ones soul to the networks interest.
Next on air he'll join in on the right wing LGBTQ bashing.
But then again, for Anderson Cooper it's a job.... A well paying job....

A. Cooper is one of the weaker 60 Minutes correspondents. They could stand to jettison him and Leslie Stahl. They need integrity. Cooper's lost any he had, evidently. Stahl interviewed MTG on 60 Minutes. I was in shock (didn't watch it!).

Nobody wants to hear anything from Democrats on TV. Informed people get their information from the internet. People who watch TV for news just want to hear bad things about ebil Demonrats.

I don't come to P&N very often so until that changes (and it doesn't seem likely currently), I'm going to use this for my shit posts.

Chris Christie vs. DJT - Oh man, talk about being outgunned. CC is a certified big D d*** head but he's ( or at least used to be) so much sharper than Donald, it's just not fair. The Donald is going to need someone whispering in his ear if he's ever on the same stage as CC.

That’s the thing about The Donald, he doesnt have to outsmart you, he just have to get a rhythm of “you suck” going and it resonates the base into a frenzy. Its a primal thing, not a chessboard thing.

I thought CC was one of the 16 that got smoked by DJT in the 2016 debates. Was he not?
Oh indeed. And all of the talking heads agree that a crowded field of candidates benefits Donnie boy.

But I have absolutely no doubt that CC ducked out on the strength of promises from Don - which as we all know aren't worth the feces that they're written in.

CC did the smart thing in 2016. Take your zero chance of victory and parlay that into an important position in a T'p admin. Well, it would have been smart if only Donnie wasn't such lying dipshit.

Still, CC can never be the GOP nominee. I mean he hugged a black liberal on national TV.

I think that Eileen Cannon is going to be like a reformed smoker or junkie or Xtian - they are SOOO much more single-mindedly dogmatic than any non-smoker, non-junkie or agnostic that they go to the opposite extreme.

And if the two beat downs she got from the 11th circuit didn't give her a new "perspective," then we're all doomed.

It's looking like August for the Fulton County indictment(s). The county sheriff was rockin' the Casbah. Oops. He was in Miami reviewing the security arrangements.

And we still need see what might come out of the work Jack has been doing in DC. But if only took 6 short months to get the W. Palm indictments - a pretty straight forward prosecution - you gotta figure it's going to be a bit longer for DC since you've got J6 and the fake electors.

Of course it's not like JS is single threading. So maybe before the end of the year we might get something there. He's going to have to trim some branches though and only bring charges that are mostly a slam dunk.

edit - fortunately, DJT is a target rich environment.

Damn, Bill Barr really eviscerated DJT over the weekend. When I was in JHS and HS I used to watch Meet the Press every Sunday with Lawrence Spivak. Mom was first gen Italian, born and raised in the US. So Sundays were big family days.

I'm not sure if reporters have since become more like attack dogs or if it's just my temperament that's changed, but I can't tolerate those shows any more.

Anyway, on the off chance that he manages to do a repeat of 2016, look for the electoral college to bend him over. This time around, they have NO excuse.

Putin is NOT in Moscow. He's hiding in one of his many fortified "dachas."

So there's no point in taking Moscow if Putin is your objective.
