So did you get it for $600 or $400?

If $400, that's not bad. But the M225 runs a Bearfoot controller, and Sandforce is much better. As you pointed out in another thread, Fry's is selling the Corsair F120 for $250. You could get the same (actually more) usable space for $500 after rebate, with much better performance. I'm pretty sure the F120 is using the SF firmware that gives the SF1500 4k random read speeds, so I think that's a better deal.

Edit: Of course that would mean you need two hookups, and unless you go with RAID 0, and no TRIM, you would need at least two partitions.

Goodness. That HD is worth almost as much as your whole system! I went with a 60GB and leave everything on my server. Just curious, what do you do that you need that much space on your boot drive?

I like to keep all the main software I use a lot on the boot drive. win7, photoshop, office, some work software, and a few games. MP3 and other things can go in the HDD>

my HDD main partition is at 110GB (used) right now and it has next to nothing in media files. I'm sure I could have gone with 128 drive but. at $400, 256 was a steal. Just a few extra hours of OT and few ramen for lunch.. lol

I went with Crucial because of the 5yr warranty vs the 3 yr on the Corsair. The performance difference is not something i'm going to notice compared to Cosair, and i don't like messing with Raid.

using the coupon 200M256US drops it $200 bucks.. 33% off.. so I picked it up. 128GB is gonna fill up fast so I just went with the 256GB. Plus I have a 640GB HDD that i'll be using as a storage.

The price is GIG is great, but unless you can live with experimenting with $400 or if Crucial's got a great return policy and if you got reasonable expectations, you're better off cancelling or returning it. SSDs that size and cost usually are for those who already have used smaller SSDs and found an absolute NEED to pay the price to constantly read that amount of data instantaneously.

You guys who are saying the M225 is a bad drive are confusing it with the issues had on the C300. The M225 is indilinx barefoot based, and while not the fastest thing now is still a solid drive. I'm using a 256 indilinx drive in my comp from supertalent, no issues here, very happy

i've just about heard of every drive from every manufacturer crapping out. So yes I could have gotten two smaller drives and may be have gotten a better price per gig/performance, but the fact is the performance between all these drivers are small.

It's like comparing a i7 to i5. sure I can get the highest benchmark and grow a epeen but in the real world the difference is going to be minimal for me. same reason why I went with 5850 instead of 5890.

Plus there's no rebate to deal with.

No I didn't, but thanks for the link I'll have to do that on the next round if we ever do a disc > ssd image again (probably will). I wonder if it had anything to do with it.

I'm not sure but I think it may have..... your problems sound a lot like the ones that didn't do this...... hope it helps.
