I replied to this thread because I have an HD 6870 coming next week to put in my Dell XPS 8300.
The Dell website approves the HD 6870 with the power supply in this computer (460W). In addition, I was told by a rep that is was OK.

It appears that power supplies in computers are very similar to sound amplifier power supplies. There is RMS power and peak power. I am not afraid of the HD 6870 being underpowered by 460W.

Please double check your input source on your monitor and read your owner's manual. It may have a VGA cable hooked up, but the monitor must be switched to receive that signal.

I don't mean to insult anyone's intelligence, but it is better to be clear about the little things.
