Just bought an engagement ring

I just bought a 1.23 ct H ideal cut SI1 (barely SI1, friend thinks it's really a VS2, and i compared it to a similar VS2 and I thought the inclusions were similar) solitaire on 4 prong tiffany setting. Taking her to the BEST steakhouse in LA (Mastro's) this saturday...need ideas on where to take her after to propose.

Update: Took her to BOA Steakhouse in Santa Monica, took her across the street overlooking the ocean and proposed. She said yes.

After dating for 7 years my wife and I usually had the same type of weekends. We would usually go out to eat on Friday nights. On that Friday that I proposed I made an excuse to visit the athletic club where my wife and I met.
I some how coaxed her into sitting on the same area of bleachers and asked her "7 years ago when you were sitting there staring at me did you ever imagine that I would ask you to marry me..." I then presented her with a $20 Wally-World CZ.

My brother actually flew his fiance out to NYC and did the whole show, expensive dinner, dessert with the ring. IMHO I think that was nice but it is overdone and unimaginative.

Do something together that day/night that you'd never think of doing. Say it's a sort of adventure and that you want to try something new. Then say to her that this is a journey we both took together and not knowing what the outcome would be. But we had faith in each other and we went through it. Then break out the ring and ask if she wants to embark on another journey; this time for the rest of your lives.

the now FH proposed on wednesday. just don't make it too obvious, because she'll figure it out (like i did.)

he said "let's go take a romantic stroll." we have never taken a romantic stroll... ever in the five years we dated. automatically, my antennae went up that something was happening.

he was cute though, he did at UCLA, which is where we met and holds a lot of significance in our lives.

what is your exit strategy if she says no?

just put the ring in a champagne glass and ask the waiter to bring it out...that's special enough.

My suggestion is to take the ring back and exchange for a smaller, much less expensive one. I'd rather go on a nice honeymoon than spend the big $$$$$ on a ring....you can always make up for it in 3-10 years.....most wives will make their husbands upgrade later so why go all out now?

Eh, the ring wasn't all that expensive to begin with and I'm not hurting for the few thousand I'll save. I originally was shooting for 1 ct. but I wanted to surprise her. She would marry me with CZ (and I am frugal aka a cheap ass enough that she would think it's something I'd consider), but since I am not a "poor college student" I thought I would spend some disposable income and get something that would wow her.

Isn't it cheesy to ask her at a restaurant? I think I'm going to take her after to the bar where just outside we had our first kiss and grab a beer and ask her outside.

You cleverly stole the steak knife from the restaurant. You tell this goddamn hobo that you're going to play with his guts, at which point you stab him in the chest.

This opens up a bag of pig guts you had promised to pay him $5 to wear all day.

Being a hungry hungry hobo, he does his best impression of dying from shock. After that you tell your GF to eat his heart, as that's how you do it in the old country.

When she bends down to rip his heart out, she finds the ring! The irony is that she'll be getting HER heart ripped out eventually! You big silly.
