I was looking for something different, but I needed a laptop before June 20th and that seemed to limit my options. In general I wanted a durable decent quality portable laptop that could game for under $1K (I'm going to be traveling all around the world for a few months). I was looking for something in the 14" size with like a GT650M, but nobody has anything yet. Thought about the Clevo 11" but the size screen quality and heat issues with the quad core kinda turned me away, and I didn't think I could get one in time (especially if I wanted a dual core). Well I ran into this deal with Dell and they said they could get the laptop to me by wednesday next week. I'm not entirely sure it was a good deal, or if it will really fit what I'm looking for. What do you guys think?

I wonder how this stacks up to the AMD APUs, like the A8 and A10. I could have gotten for example, a Toshiba 14" laptop with an A8 for ~470$, 4GB RAM and 500GB 5.4K HDD a lower resolution (and quality?) screen. I could upgrade the HDD and still pay way less. It may be more portable too...and I have seen some clearance A8 laptops near 400$. Though I havn't really seen any A10s. And something like that Clevo 11", would have been just under $1K...but much more powerfull and portable. I could still change my mind, but I'd have to do it quick so I can get my laptop before I go.
First stop is Japan, anybody know if those standard laptop chargers will work in other countries? Or do I need to get some kind of adaptor? Anything important I may be missing, something I may have overlooked? This will be my first time out of the continent, I know my cell phone won't work, so I want to make sure I can stay connected through the internet. I know there will be public transportation and train rides and such as much as several hours long...so I expect Ill be using the laptop on the go.
I dunno, but I think maybe the unknown is making me uneasy...I don't know the language or the customs and have no idea what I'll be doing or where I'm going. I'd like to get this right on the first go, so I don't look like a stereotypical obnoxious and stupid American.
