Sheridan college is selling off all their end of lease macs - $793 CDN for a full G5 (1.6) system with studio display, and they had a few G4 powerbooks left for $400 CDN.

I've always wanted a laptop, this is incredible. I love it, beautiful design and the O/S is amazing.

I  my Mac

os x is addicting. after 2 months on my powerbook i don't like using my pc at all, and only really touch it for the little bit of gaming i still do. when 10.5 is released i think i'm going to buy a macbook pro and dual boot xp/os x and just game on that. it should be fine to play bf2.

enjoy your mac, os x is a great operating system.

I used to have a 12" powerbook and thought it was the best computer I have ever had... Until I purchased a new 13" macbook... I have to send it back to Apple, mine is having the discoloration issue. No biggie.

Ive always wanted a mac but due to its price premium over the build it yourself windows type computers i never got one. If i could find a mac notebook at the price you are talking about i might get one. Desktop that i have would still stay for gaming

it's funny i always hear this, but i built a dell close in specs to what i wanted (and ended up getting and the dell would have cost me more. i don't know how their macbooks stacked up, but the powerbook i got was very competative in price.

I'm not going to become a "fanboy", I hate fanboys of anything. However, I can already appreciate using this machine, it will compliment my AMD workhorse at home quite well.

I wish there was OSX for PCs.

I don't understand why so many people abandon Windows for OS X. I have a mac running OS X and I have found the lack of a real task bar or the fact that you can't maximize and "lock" windows into place very frustrating. I can't count how many times I've gone to scroll and accidently drug the whole window around. It is also EXTREMELY annoying that the dock doesn't show each individual window open, just each program. I always have tons of windows open and it is so disorganized. Then there is the fact that Windows short cuts don't work so I have to learn all new short cut keys, and some don't exist on the mac at all. Last, but certainly not least, there are sooo many programs which don't work on OS X. Sure, I guess if you have an intel mac you can dual boot Windows, but who wants to do that? I would hate constantly needing to reboot the computer switching between operating systems.

Sure, OS X is nice but it just can't replace windows for me. I've been using Windows for 13 years now (and windows hasn't changed much in the past 11) and OS X is just too different. Even Linux is more comfortable to me than OS X. At least you can maximize windows and the keyboard shortcuts are mostly the same, and KDE even has a Windows-like taskbar!

You are not one of the majority

The user experience is actually enjoyable, and once you get used to it, it is far more efficient than windows. Some people just don't mingle with it though.

I use both xp and tiger... I can see very few advantages to xp over tiger...... Tiger is just that much more intuitive... I guess it's what you were brought up with......... I don't mind XP at all, in fact my PC lappy is my home workhorse since I don't have the cashola for a new Mac, but when it comes time to troubleshoot something.. the Mac and Tiger are way easier to figure out......

A G4 powerbook for $400 bucks is great..

Just my two cents worth...

I don't know if you're talking about the case or the OS, but OSX is a superior OS for a number of reasons and in my opinion not enough things are made from brushed aluminum.
