It was cheap, like 7.41 on Amazon.

Did I make an okay choice with my thermal paste?

I also bought a medium speed yate loon.

(Thank you whoever gave me a 20$ Amazon gc)

It's a beast.

(No personal experience, but the evidence found on the interwebz is in its favor. )

Wow. Looks like I made a good choice. It was cheaper than the mx4 and everything else I saw.

I like NT-H1 in terms of ease-of-use, cost, and performance. It is tough to get a bad mount with NT-H1.

The downside is that it is susceptible to pump-out, as are many TIMs. So if you notice your CPU running hotter in a year's time then it is probably a good idea to unmount the HSF and redo your TIM application.

In the past, with ASC I found myself having to remount once every year or so, sometimes more often, for the same reason. I haven't been using the newer ASC2 long enough to see if it's as susceptible to pumping out. So far, performance seems similar (i.e. good for the price) to the original Ceramique.

I think I'll try some NT-H1 or PK-1 for my next mount.

I've decided to forgo the use of Liquid Ultra/Pro for anything other than delidding/re-lidding purposes since it's such a hassle to remove. It just isn't worth it to me since I tinker with swapping motherboards, heatsinks, and so forth pretty often.

Well its cheap and I dunno what thermal paste I used for my e2140 but since I'm getting a e4300 I'll be able to use the noctua thermal paste. Also I need to change out the nb paste since it hasn't been changed since I got the computer which was 7 years ago

Moving up in the computer world, slowly. Maybe you could build a second rig, from the leftover parts after upgrading.

If it's the white stuff, be careful it hasn't completely solidified, and might crack the underlying chip if you try to remove it.

I remember trying to remove a pentium chip that had white paste, it was glued on there pretty solid. Thankfully, it was a ceramic PGA, so I just used a screwdriver and eventually pried it off.

All I would need for a second build is a motherboard (I have CPUs, ram, PSU, GPUs, HDDs)

The north bridge has a heatsink that I can take off with a lock mechanism. I'm sure I can change the Tim on it. It gets how when I touch it

I also bought a yate loon to change out my front fans and ghetto rig the original fan (a 120mm Dell fan with a 5 pin). I'm going to have to keep the dell fan as the could fan because it uses a 5pin and just run the yate loon at 12v.
