Our first baby was born!

My son Jack was born last Thursday (7/12) at 9:04 PM. He weighed in at 8 lbs 10 oz and measured 21.5" long. Mom and baby are doing great, and we just can't stop smiling.

For those that haven't experienced it, the birth of your child is an incomparable experience. There is nothing to describe that feeling when you see and hear that baby for the first time.

At the time the pictures were taken, we hadn't trimmed his fingernails. Newborns can scratch their faces pretty easily with their nails, so that's why they wear long sleeves in the hospital or little gloves like the ones you see.

Trimming such tiny fingernails is a bit nerve-racking! We did it for the first time last night. Luckily all fingers remained in tact afterwards.

How was the labor for your wife? I was at work when my wife went in, by the time anyone got around to telling me that my daughter was born, it was all over. They told me she was going into labor and it'd be hours, and they'd pick me up in the morning (I worked nights), I went outside after my shift and they announced that her labor lasted a whole 3 1/2 hours and was all over. This time I'm gonna be there, but with my luck it'll be the 36 hour version.

I don't normally think babies are cute or anything...but that's a good lookin kid. I see all the looks came from the mother though...even without seeing a pic of her. haha...good luck bro.
