I have no problems with it, not slow at all.

slower != slow.

It does run slower than Crysis at equivalent resolutions.

Crysis runs at 30-40 FPS at the "free" ultra high settings at 1680x1050 on my 8800gt.

This game runs in the teens at 1680x1050. Even GTA IV runs better...

Disabling the awful mouse lag inducing effects helped a lot. Thanks for the tip coldmeat.

You must have been playing Crysis in DX9 mode to get that performance out of that card at those settings. I had the same card and it would choke in DX10 at max settings. I could get "playable" performance when things were at medium settings. DX9 with settings cranked still didn't look too shabby, especially if you knew how to go into the ini files and further mod the engine (or used the utility that did that for you based on system specs).

Just Cause 2 is a DX10 only title. I'm not surprised a nearly 3 year old graphics card is starting to show it's age.

Nope DX10 mode. It's the "cheap" ultra settings. Looks 99% as good as ultra with better performance.

Was your card at stock speeds? I got massive gains from overclocking (at 755 core/1810 shader/975 memory).

The forums over at Eidos are full of bugs/glitches/requests for a patch. After taking a glance at what people are upset about I'm definitely going to wait for a patch before I buy..

http://forums.eidosgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=267

I know my experience is a drop in the bucket, but I say don't wait, buy the game.

Only issue i've experienced is some poorly timed voice overs during cutscenes.

The game friggen owns, it owns bigtime. I just jumped off a cliff, parachuted towards my target who was traveling at high speed in an automobile, from my parachute I then grappled to a pursuing car and started bustin guys up while riding ontop of the car. I then grappled to my target car, took out some more baddies while car surfing at high speed and saved my target.

Edit: What settings can be toned down without much visual impact to improve Framerates? I'm usin Vsync and goin from 60 to 30 feels like getting punched in the gut, would like to stick at 60fps.

I'd agree. Like in most cases, those experiencing issues are a vocal minority. You don't hear from the greater percentage of people who are happy and thus don't need to post. In addition, most of those in the "bug" fix list thread are simple annoyances. Things that don't break the game but people would like changed to improve their enjoyment.

Brokeh filter and SSAO are the biggest things that can be turned off or set to the lowest setting for much better performance. AA would be the next thing.

Umm, you might want to check something, because Just Cause 2 runs much better than Crysis comparatively.

Yeah it's performing perfectly here too, maxed out on a 4890 (at 1680 x 1050).

I have a quad core, maybe it's also cpu-dependent?

I went back and disabled the odder sounding effects, Point light specular and bokeh filter.

My FPS doubled... I can't even really see any difference with those effects on. They certainly aren't worth the huge FPS hit.

Yes, I'm running it just fine with my system (5750) all setting high @ 1280x1024. Not one slowdown.
I'm glad I sold my e8400. A quad core is a must with newer games.

Nice, thanks. I'd agree with happy here that the game benefits from Quad Core, my Q6600@3ghz shows 70%+ usage across all cores with this game

I went ahead and bought the game, to my dismay the bugs really are as bad as they say. I'm very surprised to hear anyone has played this game 3-4 hours without experiencing a bug.

In 2 hours of gameplay I had one instance where my character model was stuck inside of a car. I couldn't move, shoot, grapple, throw a grenade.. I had to load the last checkpoint.

In another I was really high up and parachuted right before hitting the ground. It 'broke' my left arm (couldn't grapple) nor could I throw grenades. Same as before, had to reload checkpoint.

That being said, the demo is a poor example of the games graphics and 'area'. I'm still happy with the game but will be a LOT happier with a patch. I still have input lag issues and it's very difficult to drive vehicles (fast cars in particular)

Disable point light specular, bokeh filter, and SSAO. That should fix your input lag issues.

It was okay for about two hours then it became so repetitive I uninstalled.
It is very buggy. Sometimes I would do a mission and not get credit for it. Also the aiming is all over the place.Clearly designed for consoles and controllers.

Thanks, I tried this a few days ago and it fixes most of the input lag and really helps with aiming but there is still about 1/4 second of input lag. It doesn't sound bad but when driving with fast cars it really screws up the gameplay.

Does anyone have any trainer recommendations? I'm going to ignore the main missions until a patch is released..

I'm running fine at 1920x1200 on my E8500 and 4870. Both are near stock clocks now. I've even got 2xAA on as well. It slows down *just a bit* when I'm slingshotting with the parachute open over lots of explosions.

Just got the game today and played for an hour or so. Got a really weird bug though. When I first started it up, the game was at medium/high and ran fine. I then went and maxed all the settings and it runs ~30-50 fps, which is still acceptable by my standard. However, as soon as I exited the game and went back, it slowed to a crawl, on ALL settings. Even when I set everything to the lowest and disabled every effects, I was getting fps in the teens. After a while, I noticed that the slowdown only happens when important objects come into fov i.e. the ones with a red/green radar around them. Any guesses?

I'm running i7@3.6 ghz, 6gb ram, and 5970 at 5040x1050 eyefinity.

edit: Nevermind, the ingame vsync is really messed up, just forced vsync to always on in catalyst and the fps returned

edit2: Nevermind, it just came back again after I restarted the game, and this time, changing vsync settings didn't do much. This is ridiculous, a game that won't run properly on 5970 even on lowest settings?

edit3: Seems like it only happens with Catalyst on, no Crossfire for me. Guess I'll have to pick between shitty framerates and shittier framerates when there's action.

25 hours in and I think this is the best gameworld I've played so far. So much to do and it looks great. Just started playing with the military jets, excellent carnage.

A friend told me about this game a week or so ago, sounds really fvcking fun ... but ... I'm so hooked on X3 Reunion (with XTM mod) that I haven't even made it halfway through the sp campaign of Bad Company 2 ... and I've only logged in to play online like twice (but I have friends who are playing it at least a couple of days every week) ....

So, did anyone run into CF+EF issue with this game? I KNOW it works, because I wasn't watching a slideshow for the first 2 or 3 hours that I played. Everything went downhills after I closed it and restarted....

Just tried single monitor, slowdown still occurs (~30fps while viewing certain objects, 100+ otherwise), so it seems to be exclusively crossfire or my pc?

Got the game running, can mostly max out the settings(GTX 285 1920x1080)...and wow it's a beautiful game for sure. Some of the best water I've seen in a video game, especially with GPU Water rendering and water quality set to Very high.

No problems with the game so far, 5 hours in and I'm only 7% done ha! See to me thats what makes a game worth $50. I can see myself playing this game for weeks before I even try to beat the game. So much fun flying helo's around blowing shit up parachuting etc. Really well done.

Have you tried deleting or renaming the game's .ini config file to restore it to original settings?

Uninstalled att so don't know my current fps, but disabling desktop composition and visual theme seems to have fixed it. Why it needed to be disabled in the first place is beyond me, as the first time I played was fine without needing me to change anything.
