my thoughts on this game...

It gets boring fast... maybe because im stomping outposts and liberating cities, but the game has very poor mechanics outside blowing things up.

Precision aiming is a joke.... its a trait on top which to me is a joke.
Headshots are almost meaningless, it seems like just spraying at the body is a better tactic then skillfully trying to place head shots on your targets.
Driving... OMG... Driving absolutely SUCKS.... lets not get into this.
Antialaising... has major issues... when it was set, i would be getting random black artifacts.
Outside the comical area's of grapling animals or people to cars and watching them fly, the game seems to get boring fast.

The game does have great voice actors tho... they actually represent the characters they voice act.... by far much better then other games i have played, which i guess makes the story somewhat enjoyable... but the mechanics... sigh... the mechanics... :\

If i didnt get the game on sale, id probably rage hard at how this could actually be a AAA title.

Anyhow i'll try to gun though the rest, but the challenges are unappealing, very difficult to do in some aspects because the control system in this game is horrendous.

But my intial take on the game.... its definitely not worth 60 dollars... im still a little bitter i paid 33 dollars, however, im glad it was 33 vs 60.

This is how I felt about JC2. Very fun initially, but you can only run around aimlessly and blow stuff up in new and inventive ways for so long before even that becomes tedious busy work. I think I played that for about ~10 hours before I realized it wasn't worth more of my attention.

Glad I only spent 5 bucks on it. (when it was relatively new, too)

Yeah an FOV mod would be helpful. Half the time I feel like I'm staring at Rico's ass - not willingly of course.

I've liberated a few continents and the game started to drag a bit. So I did what I did with JC2 and decided to use a trainer to advance the game along a bit faster. I have more fun in this game just screwing around than doing this missions or liberating bases so to me, cheating doesn't take anything away from the experience. It just means I don't have to worry about dying during the next "hey, hold my beer and watch this" moment.

I was amazed how quick LinGon came out with a trainer for it. But yeah, being single player, and mostly a sandbox, I got no guilt with the trainers. I never thought JC2 fun without it. The trainer just takes the sandbox experience to where it should be.

Ages ago I bought a lifetime subscription to cheathappens.com. Those guys work their a$$ off. They had a working trainer available an hour after the game was released.

I played some more and did find that I can use the sniper rifle with a right-stick click (Xbone), so maybe it's just weapon dependent. Sure would be nice to have that option with every weapon, even if it's just iron sights, but oh well.

It felt a little better last night, but I agree about just not feeling as smooth as JC2. As I said, I'm going to have to go back and try it again, JC3 came with a download code for JC2 as a native Xbone version, so that's cool.

You've probably found out by now (since it sounded like you were playing more than I was) but I unlocked the skill to aim down the sights with all guns which helped. I think it's the first thing you unlock by doing the shooting challenges, so once you liberate an area that gives you a shooting challenge it should be easy enough to get. It made hitting long distances easier.

Maybe it's because I'm busy enough to not have time to play every day, but when I do I usually find myself putting in at least a couple hours and having fun. I haven't run into things being too repetitive yet, because each base is a little different. The small ones usually have one SAM launcher so if I'm fast I can take that out and just decimate the base in a heli in no time. Bigger ones have multiple ones so I usually get hit, then have to bail... then I can hack them and get back at any air support they call in. The one I just cleared had a tank I used to cause a lot of damage before it got hit.

But those are the bases, the town liberations are getting a little tedious. Most of the towns feel the same, and you do the same stuff. There isn't as much variety in the towns, and there aren't as many enemies so it isn't that difficult to clear them.

Long story short... I'm not bored (yet) :sneaky:

Try taking the Cent Com bases, they have cluster air strikes that make standing still or using a minigun impossible. It's good grapple movement training though.

The lack of SLI support in this game is highly aggravating.

Is that what the red painted targets on the ground are? Those are so annoying. It's constant, you can't stop for a second. I've been trying to figure out what I need to take out to stop those.

And yes, I did finally check out challenges after having played for quite a while and unlocked the manual aim perk. Dumb thing to have behind an unlock, but whatever.

Some of the challenges in this game are crazy hard.

I've seen them come from chopper missiles before. Just kind of a telegraph of their attack before they launch. I think it's more than just helicopters though, as I'm pretty sure I've seen that target right before a tank fired on me as well. I think it's any area of effect attack (so tank shell, missile, etc)

Yea it's the Hellfire from Helicopters, Shells from Tanks & Cluster Bombs from Jets. There might be Artillery too as I saw gun turrets on a video but don't know if they're cosmetic or functional.

I forgot to mention... some of the challenges look like they aren't meant to be easy when you start. As you unlock more skills and weapons, you're able to replay any challenge with those skills you unlocked and a lot of times can choose a different (and better) weapon than the default (shooting challenges let you change weapons with square on the PS4 IIRC). It's kind of a dumb way to get you to replay things, but it also makes sense to give you a challenge.

this kind of game NEEDS co-op. Imagine how fun this would be with a friend?

There was a JC2 MP mod that a group was making. I was in the beta and while it certainly wasn't an organized co-op experience, I think they had up to 10 people playing in one map instance working at some point. There's only so much fun you can have blowing stuff up without mods though, so even though you had other people with you I lost interest before it finished. Everyone hoped that would inspire a sequel to have MP but I guess it didn't =/

This game doesn't support SLI? Just cause 2 supported it just fine. I will wait until they both finish the game and sell the game as a whole, complete game and for a reasonable price. I think every game I buy from now on I will have to wait a full year for them to finish the game, release all of the game and fix the stupid price of the game.

Anyone seen a mod or method to create multiple map markers that are permanent? They would be similar to waypoints. Or more than one waypoint that stay would be fine too. So I can mark my favorite places to revisit. Can't recall exactly where all of them are from memory. It's more convenient in game rather than having to manage them in some image program or on a paper map.
