Nothing but blue skies and cool temps since Beryl barreled through yesterday.
Hurricane was pretty mild overall, no thunder, or lightning, or strong winds, or hail. Just tornado warnings that didn't amount to much. Oh yeah, maybe 4" of rain.

Hopefully it's a non event. We had a tornado warning here a while back, there were actually some clouds that seemed to indicate one was forming too so it was legit. Thankfully none actually did form though.

For sure! I'm sitting outside on the patio now, there's a gentle rain falling with thunder and lightning all around but there's absolutely no wind. It's still humid AF, with a dewpoint of 74°!

What a difference 30 minutes makes! The front just rode through here with a vengeance… raining sideways, 20 mph wind gusts, and no humidity FTW!

We had a hurricane pass directly overhead in the late 70's. Can't figure out which one from the history. It was mostly wind though. The eye of storm passed directly overhead. That's such an odd experience. All hell is breaking loose (only 70+ winds though) then it's dead calm for several minutes and then you get the ass end of the eye.

The closest a tornado ever touched down was in Dunellen which is right at the foot of the first line of the Watchung mountains. My guess is that the mountains (really more like very tall hills) provided the uplift for it.

Other than that, I'm not even sure we get tornado warnings. We must though since we get severe weather alerts

If the CPC forecast is correct, there should be a significant cooldown for much of the US for the second half of July.

Due to the remnants of Beryl we had 2 days of serious downpours and 2 tornadoes.

Both occurred at about 4 p.m. on July 10 and were rated EF0 – the lowest possible rating for a tornado’s strength.
