That your argument for justifying the consumption of beef was based on false analogies and is therefore unsound. Accordingly, you need a different argument if you wish to rebut the contention in the original post.

Ohh troll logic. Gotcha.

Climate change is more like phrenology then.

You guys hold up climate change as a science, infallible data so long as its collected using scientific methods. But there are always a few pseudosciences throughout history. You guys act like because its science its obviously correct. But pseudosciences occur over and over again. Climate science isn't biology or chemistry. Biology and Chemistry aren't even settled. Climate science is the most likely to be remembered as a pseudoscience through a historical lens.

Can you give an example of something that you think is pseudoscience other than climate science?

How do you not see that the anti-vax movement is analogous to the climate deniers rather than the consensus? The anti-vax movement was never mainstream or a majority. It was always a minority clinging to dubious "science." For a relatively smart person you can be really fucking dumb sometimes.

Did I say that climate deniers had it right and weren't joining a bandwagon for selfish, biased, or political reasons too? Strange. That's not like me at all.

True skeptics don't take sides other than their own and aren't afraid to admit when they don't know enough to take a side. The problem here is that both sides will ridicule anyone who remains undecided for now and doesn't side with them.

I can only speak for myself, but I see science not as answers, but as the right direction toward answers.

It isn't that it cannot be wrong -- it is often wrong -- but when done properly, it gets us closer to the reality of things. And the more times things are repeated, the clearer the understanding can become for those that care to know it.

Science is a verb.

Settled is not the goal. Tools continue to improve, so how can we settle anything? New perspectives reveal themselves to our limited senses, so how can we state anything outside of math is a "fact"? Why bother? We just want to decrease our overall vast ignorance. We want to add bricks to the overall architecture that takes us higher and clear more paths to let us go further.

and yet, those interested in doing anything are the only one's in this thread posting relevant information, suggesting actual solutions, and linking to said solutions.

You are merely standing in the corner with your dick in your hand complaining that no one is doing anything.
You guys have all the answers but none of the conviction.

That is very responsible in the sense that it will more than likely remove you from the genepool and the government dole in an efficient and equitable manner..

good thing is that you don't believe in healthcare, so no one will have to pay to treat your colon cancer which will be a rather quick and painful end; but mercifully cheap for everyone else.

I'm done reproducing so the damage has been done unfortunately. But since you bring up death. The best thing a global warming scare nut could do to help the planet is to jump off a cliff. But of course you don't even have the conviction to stop eating beef so I guess we're all screwed.

You are conflating accepting the problem with having a solution. I believe the science shows a trend and basic chemistry describes greenhouse warming. That has nothing to do with how we tackle the problem. You are still at the point of acknowledging the problem.

I'm rather certain that climate change folks would like to see regulations strengthened against ranchers and farmers to mitigate some of these effects.

I know you're just trying to call people hypocrites, but did you stop for a second to think about why you're doing it? And what you look like when you do it?

I eat beef myself. Not as frequently as I used to, we tend to eat chicken and pork more these days.

Of course I also own a couple cars and many firearms also, the whole hypocrite thing is pretty obvious and weak.

Denying something outright is a different story.

We know that methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas but you carnivorous lovlies won't put the fork down to help save the planet. Putting the fork down is one way of tackling the problem.

Maybe this will make you feel better about saving the planet.

Curious to where they are getting their numbers. Google shows 100 calories of broccoli gives 8g of protein and steak has 14g. Just fact checking random forum posts here. D:

Seriously though, there are things I won't contribute to on the principle alone. An example, after watching a documentary on The Church of Scientology I quit going to Tom Cruise movies. Obviously my little "protest" isn't going to amount to a hill of beans but I cannot support how they treat people and what they do if you leave. I really believe that what they are doing is harmful, so I don't contribute.

And Tom Cruise is still doing quite well even though you "took a stand." See how your boycott is completely symbolic and has no affect on Tom Cruise?

This is why I get beef with broccoli at the Chinese place. I don't know who to believe so I just get both.
