Driving me nuts here. Popped in a wolfdale that came in today, cleared CMOS, posts fine.

I set all the BIOS settings and prep settings for a 400FSB overclock... just to see if it will post.

No post. I clear CMOS and try a different setting... no post.

This process repeats for 4x until I figure out, it'll ONLY POST after a CMOS clear and never after. I was able to confirm this by clearing CMOS, going into the BIOS, just save and quit BIOS without changing anything and it would not post.

Before anyone asks this, yes, I am running the latest BIOS that supports a Wolfdale.

Any ideas? Or should I just run over to frys and shell out for an IP35?

hehe so you posted with it, and before you went into windows, you went to the bios and overclocked to 400mhz fsb?
hahahahah

likely you could put an old conroe, p4 or celeron in it and flash to bios 14B05 or bios 15. I had a very difficult time getting it to recognize my 8400. i had to put a 2140 in there and update the bios, then take it out and put the 8400 in. since then its been good. I found the bios 14 beta 5 to be way more stable for overclocking than the bios 15

I flashed it to the 1226 bios yesterday. Regardless what I OC'ed it to, it wouldnt matter. I can have it post, not change anything, turn off, turn on and it wouldnt post.

I'm getting sick of this board anyway... I might keep it around for a small project. Thanks anyway.

maybe try to relax memory timings for now, then if it will consistently post, then add the timings back in

double check your voltages as well.

and finally, what kind of PSU are you using?
