The first area out side was pretty nice looking and played well too. Once I got to fly one of those POS hover planes though, it sucked. The thing kept on stalling and I ended up seemingly having the engines die. The boss was a pain because it would end up killing you right after a save so you would have to go back to the last save and after a bit of that I would just hit F5 every few seconds to make it through.

Over all if they game kept up what it did during the KPA area I would give it a 10. But because of all the alien parts and the lame ending it gets an 7.5/10. I really hope the sequal tries to cut down on the zero G and alien killing but from the looks of it I don't know how they would do that.

Are you sure you just weren't being sucked into a tornado? I thought my ship was just falling from the sky, but it turned out that a tornado was coming up behind me and sucking me down.

Yes I had it happen right after you pass the first bridge when you defend while the others pick up marines. I did run into one of the tornados once though. Once pulled to the ground I just spun in circles until I reloaded my last save even though I was grinding and digging into the ground no damage was caused and it wouldn't kill me

I was in awe when I got in the core but it all went down hill from there.

Hated all transport chopper battle and fighting aliens.

I thought Crytek said they learned their lesson with Far Cry...

Exactly the same thing -- loved the 1st half -- 2nd half sucks.


I couldn't believe how amazed I was on that level where you ride the tank and you see the mountain begin to explode ...

Only to be bogged down to the hell that was the 2nd half.

So dissapointed

Even with a 7800gt, the graphics are awesome

as for the gameplay, it's the most fun i've ever had in a single player shooter. zero-g is more fun then i thought it would be, and the range of weapons available to use throughout the game made it even more amazing, i mean, the sheer number of ways to play this game makes it really great. i had 1 glitch where my scar fell through the floor of a trailer, but i just went under it and got it back, so not to much harm done there.

the only thing that bothered me was the lack of a large icy level, i mean, the only one you play is to just save prophet, and thats really easy (i played through on normal btw). i would've liked to play around more with the physics of frozen objects.

oh, the physics system is great as well, you can destroy buildings and pick up anythings and chuck stuff at people.

weapon customization is great too, i prefer assault scope+laser sight+silencer+incendiary rounds+grenade launcher on my rifles. but you can play around with everything and it addes even MORE ways to play the game.

lol, but as this is CRYSIS, i have to say i did try turning the graphics all the way up to very high. since i'm running a 7800gt, i turned my resolution down to 800x600 and booted the game up with all it's glory. all i can say is...

the graphics did live up to the hype

and thats only at 800x600



so, the only reason it's 9/10 is because of the multiplayer. I played the multiplayer beta, and it was great. but now, they made cloak last for a virtually unlimited amount of time and super-speed last forever. They added a few other things that really killed the online experience for me, so they lose 1 point for that.


w00t for CRYSIS!!!! it lived up to the hype!!!



EDIT: one more thing, the tank level view truly was epic, looking up at the mountain, they really outdid themselves there... (in response to the above post)

Crysis = My Favorate game of all time. I hope OFP2 is good, because I'm a realistic FPS dude.

Once I hit the area once you were out of the ship, and everything turned to snow... that's when my graphics took a nose dive. I had to switch some GFX settings to medium because it was so laggy.. and I've got a good system.

All in all: MP = Awesome. Beats the other games that have been out recently. Sadly it kills ArmA. This is definately a classic.

Yeah the multiplayer is pretty solid, definitely gives a lot of replay value to the game. I hope they release some more large maps

After replaying it to some extent, I enjoyed the game more. I was able to kill off a lot of AI by ducking, cloaking, proning, and shooting or grabbing while falling back into the shrubs to pray on my next victim.

Still I don't think the enemy was easily as targeted or approachable as Far Cry, but Far Cry was half in-doors as well. Most targets were surrounded by mountains or located on top of steep hills, while other targets are surrounded by water patrol boats that can spot you a mile away. I guess as far as military bases goes, they would be located in tough strategic places. So maybe I'm just nit-picking.

I don't think fighting the Aliens was bad, but it was not as enjoyable as fighting the Koreans. The in-door environments were limited which was a big + for me.

I still see a lot of missed opportunities. Maybe I'm not exploring as much as I should, but I figure the suit and maps would allow me to jump from on cliff to another or have that hang glider we had in FC. I would enjoyed firing a gun from a glider suite attachment more so than the air craft.

As I went through it, the cloaking really made you feel like the Predator. Pretty cool, but I didn't use the shoot-cloak-shoot-cloak that much cause it felt a bit "lame" (too easy). I wish the human shield worked better; enemies didn't even flinch before wasting their own guy, and once he died, he fell down. Come on, in Total Recall that guy on the escalator absorbed at least 30 rounds.

The game was absolutely amazing. It dethrones Half Life 2 as my favorite game. I beat it in 5 days on Delta.
