how could that surprise you since you have a little radar?

I need to get my system built so I can see what the hell is so great about a game about a dude in a homoerotic scuba suit.

Have you played the demo? You can either take like 40 mins or 4 hours to complete it dpending on how you play... The game is the same up until you get to the aliens.

So the full game is around 4 hours long?

I don't know how long the game takes. I'm 17 hours into it, and just got extracted as the major gets killed. No clue how much further I have to go. I'm slow though. I enjoy demolishing just about everything I see in the game

My thoughts so far: Effing amazing game. Worth every cent IMO.

It's possible to sneak or run by most of the enemies in the 1st half, except for the couple of times when a landing zone must be cleared. The 2nd half is a rail shooter which forces you to fight, but it's pretty short. Finishing in 4 hours or less is possible if you leg it and know exactly where you're supposed to go.

Also the game went from awesomeness to stupid script ness after you go into the core.

Story was shocking and worst than Farcry orignal story.

Game was going great till it all went down hill after the core level :!

I agree. It was too heavily scripted in the alien portion - they put you on rails.

The game became more than just a game when you enter the cave. It was an epic proportion like star wars.

hes talking about the demo. the actual game can be as long as you make it just like the demo is what he is saying. average game play length for the full game is around 10 hours. I havent finished it yet and I am well past 10 hours.

Ok, just finished it. Logged in about ~20 hours including replays, which were many cause I am incapable of hitting F5 periodically. Did it all on hard, which was a nice challenge. Graphics were very nice, even on medium-low (more medium). The sun rising on a river made me stop for a minute just to watch.

Spoilers

Ok, going to get right down to it. It looks as if this game was created with two teams: one incompetent and one at the top of their game. Every single level, every mission, every skirmish/battle up to the mountain was an absolute gem. I had a blast attacking every occupied base, using various methods ranging from sneaking in and silently killing to driving a jeep full speed into a large group before bailing out and blowing it up.

The amount of freedom was great and the physics added quite a bit to the game. The destructible buildings (sheds/small houses) were an amazing addition; I just went "wow" when I figured out that I could make my own doors by using strength and melee attack on walls. Shooting watch towers with rockets/frags actually brings them down, unlike almost every game before (sans Red Faction) where you need 5 shots to before putting one in the slit.

The nanosuit was cool and helped to add a lot of choice. However, I couldn't do much of what the trailer showed. It is easy to use and every ability was useful. I cycled through each of them at least once and actually used them for a while each level. Think it would have been a good idea to add some extra, customizable abilities though... too complicated for people probably... Weapons were pretty good, but the assault rifles were a bit similar and there could have been a few more. Otherwise, it was pretty well rounded. The customizability of add-ons was also incredibly useful. It was great to change out the scope and silencer when needed.

And the suck...

In short: everything alien. When the hell did the suit get thrusters for zero G? The alien weapon seemed weak. The aliens were retarded and could either strafe-rape you or just kill charge you. The way they made the aliens, there really isn't much I can think of in terms of how to improve them. They fly and have guns, look and act like squids/octopuses... They aren't interesting enemies and there is too little back story to them. Oh, and it became a rail shooter... an unwelcome change of pace.

Now the alien part isn't THAT bad, but it is crap compared to the first 3 quarters. I will be replaying it, but will call it a game when I get inside the mountain. They should have kept it to 2 arms and 2 legs or an even number of wheels...

sorry to quote the whole post but I pretty much agree with everything. I didnt want to stop playing the first parts of the game because it was exactly what I was looking forward to. now Im forcing myself just to finish this crap since the Core level.

The game started to show signs of pushing it out the door as soon as you entered The Core. 2 alien types in the core, one that punches and the other that shoots Pacman pellets at you, otherwise, look identical. Kyong battle (was this a boss battle?) sucked, you could just run behind him and punch him in the back of the head til he died, took no damage from him. Final boss battle was fun in a retro way, but it ended pretty abruptly, and somehow I skipped the last TAC shot completely and then the ship just started falling, which might not have been a big deal, except the sound cut out on me completely right then, so I had no idea what to do, and ended up dying. Sound died on me at least 5 times throughout the game, very annoying.

Loved Farcry, Crysis is okay but overall a dissapointment as a SP title.

When you first get the zero-G I thought it was great, but after 15 mins of flying around I was ready for that level to end.

As everyone says the alien part gets old fast.

I think that is because there are no real tactics to killing them. Just blast away and hope they die before you die. The alien gun seemed to suck as well. Gauss rifle was propably the best weapon in the game.

Overall though it was still a kick ass game. Just wish the alien part would have been as fun as the KPA part.

I enjoyed Far Cry a great deal, because it was such a refreshing title at the time.

I kinda lost interest in Crysis after the whole alien discovery thing and only finished it to see the ending....not so much for the enjoyment of playing the game.

good thing I didn't upgrade just for this....

Hah, I just finished Crysis an hour ago!

Overall, it's not a bad game, but still, quite a bit underwhelming, given all the pre-release hype. The KPA levels were nice, and so were the alien levels until the emergence from the ice mountain. From there on, it was pure crap. The VTOL level was probably the worst vehicle level I've encountered in an FPS recently.

Other irritating aspects were the useless weapons and uneven enemy AI. Even the 'destructable' environment was a bit strange...I can destroy shacks, but cannot open doors? WTF? And the glass in many of the rooms seemed to be some special alien grade glass...completely impervious to any human weapon.

The graphics were amazing, but again, not uniformly so, especially given the amount of resources they leeched. Some of the textures were quite ugly up close, particularly the ground textures. I played it on all high except shadows (medium) at 1680x1050 and it ran very smoothly until the final boss battle where it hiccupped a bit.

Overall 7/10.

COD4 was a much less hyped and FAR more enjoyable experience.

I didn't care for the gauss gun when I first picked it up, but at the end when you "have" to use it, I began to love it. The power and effect is awesome.

And the VTOL does suck. It was very annoying trying to fly it, and there was no way you could really go against aliens unless you hover and use it as a mobile turret. Everytime I tried to chase or turn around, they would just stop and hover while spraying my ass for an hour til I went down.

Loved every minute of this game except for the VTOL level. What an absolutely awful level that was... Unbelievable game, though. I experienced no serious bugs except that Kyong guy never fired a bullet at me since he got stuck on some fallen debris and didn't move or do anything. Played through on Delta and thought it was a ton of fun. 19 hours because I insisted on clearing out every possible enemy I could find on that level where you blow up the KPA cruiser.

COD4 was a demo of a great game.

I can't say much for Crysis as my system can't seem to run it without overheating.

Just finished it. Like everyone else said KPA areas were amzaingly fun. The rest well... at first I thought the core level was really cool looking then 15-20 minutes later I couldn't wait to get out of there.

The first area out side was pretty nice looking and played well too. Once I got to fly one of those POS hover planes though, it sucked. The thing kept on stalling and I ended up seemingly having the engines die. The boss was a pain because it would end up killing you right after a save so you would have to go back to the last save and after a bit of that I would just hit F5 every few seconds to make it through.

Over all if they game kept up what it did during the KPA area I would give it a 10. But because of all the alien parts and the lame ending it gets an 7.5/10. I really hope the sequal tries to cut down on the zero G and alien killing but from the looks of it I don't know how they would do that.

Are you sure you just weren't being sucked into a tornado? I thought my ship was just falling from the sky, but it turned out that a tornado was coming up behind me and sucking me down.

I finished it a couple days ago. I really thought it was a phenominal game. My only gripe is that it was too short. I had no idea that it was going to end so quickly. I did take my time and go through every part though

I just finished Crysis. To me it was kind of meh. I really enjoyed it until you enter the mountain and it becomes all aliens. Not to mention upon entering the winter wonderland, I had to turn every thing to low and lower the resolution to get it even close to the previous performance.

I'd give the game a 6.5 out of 10.

Yeah I noticed this too. Even when you're out of the snow it just seems like the post processing and particle effects go off the kazoo. I was able to play everything on high at 1650 wide screen res until after the core.

I was able to finish the game after I underclocked my factory oc'ed EVGA GTS to regular GTS freq's. I was at the air craft carrier at the time and I was surprised too (after dying 10x over).

What's with these games!!! They're no longer complete it seems. I would hate to see cyrsis two or whatever add-on continue on with nothing but those damn alien creatures.

I still have the same complaints about the game overall. I don't know why people think there's much freedom in the game because there isn't. Far Cry had more freedom in the outdoor environments then this.

I would have to replay it a few times to see if I can be any more stealthier. So far, I have yet to find a way as every AI ive encountered are in hoards.

I forgot about the tornados, but the times when the POS VTOL stalled, it was definately not due to any "external" force. The thing is just hard to fly and not responsive to controls. Best strategy I came up with when stalling was just reversing thrust (back pedal) and climbing (space bar). Otherwise there was no way to pull out of anything or avoid colliding with a mountain.

I plan on replaying Crysis once the first patch comes out. The first part is definately worth it. MAYBE I'll go all the way to the end if they fix the damn snow covered areas. It was a chug fest outside the core.
