The search is broken so I'll just post what I had in mind anyway:
Everyone complained about the ending, and even I remember certain
scathing remarks I wrote on the subject when it was proposed that it would end in the fashion that it did, due to certain constraints etc. I never got the chance to finish it until now.
It was a nice ending. Different indeed, but I guess that's why I liked it.
All these series' tried so hard do do something, and excel at it, but none of them ever worked on me as well as this one. Sure ST: TNG was cool as hell when I was a kid, and had my mind pondering all sort of sciencey things for a decade, but this one...this one had something unique, something special. I remember the old ST movies, where the pursuit of enlightenment was intermingled with social and political affairs, mirroring humanity in an unflattering way, but still, carefully, weaving a quilt of hope amongst it all. The series' always felt too cold and alien, to far away and too perfect, despite the embedded drama. It always felt too far ahead, and more like watching a cool science experiment, that ,while emotional, left no residual emotion besides one of interest in technology. This one was different though. They did indeed bootstrap the series and it felt more like the movies, where they weren't just explorers, but heroes.
As I've heard many say, at first I thought I would love it, and then I got bored for a bit at the beginning. After finishing the 6th and final season, however, I found it to be my favorite of all
Here's to a show that left me with a smile on my face:beer:
