Yeah I always skip the part of SPR where Fish gets shanked. Too uncomfortable. Other parts of the movie that made me squirm were:
-The entire beginning (why did the US Army have to get the most heavily defended beach?)
-When Fish and the bearded guy are throwing Stielhandgrenatas out of their laps practically toward the end
-When said bearded guy gets shot in the throat and writhes on the floor gagging on his own blood during the aforementioned shanking
-Sargent Michael Horvath getting riddled with bullets while running for "The Alamo" (I just got the wind knocked out of me, I'm fine...)
-When Barry Pepper (the sniper) shoots a german straggler and arterial blood comes jetting out of his chest
-A combination of when the german tank driver gets an M1 carbine in the mouth and then shot for giblets, and then when the US Army troops crawl over the tank and get dismembered by the Flakvierling
-The guys who got their limbs mangled by the flakvierling drag themselves screaming along the ground and are shot in the chest point blank by Volksgrenadiers
-Last but not least, the sorry US Army soldier who lights the sticky bomb way too soon and proceeds to gib himself before putting the bomb on the treads of the Stug tank
I just watched the movie a few days ago so these moments are still vividly in my head, pretty horrible stuff.
