just found a backdoor virus on system, help!!!!!!

i think it has been there for like a week, what should i do? i have used my credit card online like ten times this week and also used paypal and all my e-mail accounts. should i change everything get a new bank acount and credit card #? how crazy should i get ?

Well, you should contact your bank and describe the situation to them. Let them guide you on what to do about your account, since they will then have liability for future charges. They will probably verify current charges on your account as a first step.

From the link you provided, it doesn't seem to be much of an information gathering bot, but more of a DOS attack bot waiting for orders to help bring somebody down. "Once running, the trojan connects to an Internet Relay Chat server and joins a specified channel. At this point an attacker can send private messages to the bot, which contain instructions to initiate a Denial Of Service attack against another machine on the Internet."

Based on that, I doubt they captured any information from you. But hey, you never know.

ok..in the first place...how did they get u guys to run the attached
.exe file that loaded the virus?

Well, it's a trojan, not a worm, so it didn't necessarily come as an email attachment, although that remains a possibility. It could have been wrapped around a perfectly normal application, for instance - at least that's what "classic" trojans do.

i'm running a fairly fresh install of 2k and i hadn't gotten around to putting an anti virus prog in yet. i think it was in one of the codec .exe files that i donwloaded. i was haveing major problems getting all my files to play so i was downloading them like crazy. i have almost 200 gigs of divx files and they use an insane amount of codecs.
