My last pair of glasses were $15 from online. My vision benefit is only $200/2years so I liked to scrimp.

Well as of September 1 I get a $750 health spending account. I basically went to the optician and said load me up for all you can on $950... ended up being $975, or $25 out of pocket. I think I made the salesman pretty happy.

Now I've got Oakley glasses and Oakley prescription polarized sunglasses. Health spending accounts are fucking awesome!

BTW, Our health spending account is 100% company funded, it's not my money tax free or anything

Why didn't you wait till the end of the year in case you needed it?

My old pair broke in Disneyland, so it pretty much had to be now.

Yes, they're a lot better than my $15 ones! I like them way better... cheap lenses are hard to clean and glare badly I've found.

Exactly now he's f'd is anything else happens.

Why? Canadian, so I have health care, and I have 80% prescription drug coverage on top of this... can't think of many scenarios I'd miss this money

its no wonder our country spends way more on healthcare yet covers so many fewer people.

FSAs are wonderful. I've spent about $1,000 on glasses this year, a great Orgreen daily wear pair + polarized prescription sunglasses. And for the doubters yes good glasses are worth the money.

I put $3,000 on it for 2009, I might have overdone it but I have spent most of it so far & have plans for the rest.

lol, it's Canada. Everyone's covered. Seems like a win-win situation for Scouzer. Awesome glasses and decent enough health care.

So you're getting $750 for an HSA instead of $750 more in wages. If I do the Canadian math on that one, it looks like you got free glasses.

Hah!!!! Trust me, this money would have ended up in an HSA or else not at all. It's just not the way this company works. It's run by a health insurance company so my company probably only pays a percentage of the $750 since not everyone will take advantage of it.

I get $1500 a year with my HDHP, and it rolls over from year to year. Planning on just getting lasik next year now that I have saved enough.

N/m. Didn't see you were Canadian until further down the thread.

American HSAs suck and are merely an excuse to cut benefits.
