Just got an a7n8x-deluxe...does it do dual channel?

I am thinking of getting this memory:

Kingston HyperX Series Dual Kits 184 Pin 256MBx2 DDR PC-3200

With an AMD 2500+ Barton

and a ATI Radeon 9600pro.

Will I find any problems with this set up?

I have the board and bought the card off fs/ft and now I wanna order the cpu and memory now off newegg. Any thoughts? yea or nay?

I love that board. I have it. You will love it. I guarantee it. It is so solid and so stable. The benies are awesome. I never was an asus fan before i bought mine. Now, I will probably never change again. Asus got my money twice... i bought the slimmed down version then i bought the loaded version. I am selling the slim down version on the fs ft forum. Just take your time with it. Get a barton and feel the power. I recommend the 2500 from your favorite egg shop.... LOLz. Take care and good luck. BTW, get a HSF from SVCOMPUCYCLE I have the sk7 and a ystech fan. Mine loves fsb and it stays nice and cool with that setup.

cool..thanks for your input...im just wondering if it is worht getting that ram or just a 512 stick of something else. If it will do dual channel and dual channel is worth it...i wanna do it.

Anyways, I have this board as well running a similar setup. (XP2500+, 2x512MB Kingston ValueRAM, Radeon 9500Pro) and it runs great. Yes, it can do dual channel but only with 2 sticks. Let's say you do the 2x256MB now and decide to get 1GB total and throw in another 512MB. You then lose your dual channel capabilities.

Dual channel brings a minimal performance boost, usually less than 3-5% max. You probably will be better off getting one stick of 512MB and buying another 512MB later then run dual channel. I'm assuming you'll upgrade to 1GB later on.

I thought you keep dual channel capability by replacing one 256MB stick with the 512 and then moving the replaced 256 stick to the 3rd slot (on the same channel as the other 256 stick), so you'd have 2 "channels" of 512 each. No? That's the way my Albatron KX18D Pro II is set up. I think.

ugh...changed my order again....now should I go back to the 2x256 and then get an extra 512 at a later date or just get 512 and not worry about it till i get an extra 512 and run daul @ 512?

im leanin towards 1 x 512. Easier to sell of I would think if I wanna go to a diff. brand or upgrade the speed.

Just ordered from newegg. 1x512mb HyperX Kingston DDR PC3200 and a retail Barton 2500+ (333fsb).

I already received my a7n8x-deluxe and my 9600pro has been shipped. Im lookin forward to the weekend. :beer:
