Just got an Audigy 2 - Do I NEED to install drivers from CD?

Just got my Audigy 2 home and was wondering if I NEED to install the drivers off the cd first, or if there are updated full packages/drivers available online. I tried to install the last driver directly from Creative but it said it did not detect a previous installation so it quit out.

You can get the drivers online but they will not let you install the useful apps that I use regularly. You should install from the CD first.

Also, the drivers online dot add any performance, or other major changes 9unless said otherwise). GO ahead and use the CD, but dont install no crappy software, like media-ring talk, or whatnot, thats just booty.

Just install the drivers off the CD, not all of that extra crap that's on it.

You have to install the drivers off of the CD.

I don't have to touch the CD at all. Just download the drivers from Creative's website and install those.

Here's what I'd recommend:
From the CD
Drivers, Speaker Settings, EAX Console, Surround Mixer, and AudioHQ (optional). You could put Mediasource on if you want, but I'd stick to Winamp or Foober personally

From Creative's Site
Get the .383 drivers and any program updates (most of the above from the CD have updates available).

You should be good to go then

Well, tre crappy CD is optionsl. Thats why they have the "custom" installation.
