E6600 L630F049/L632B173 + Freezone results
Other specs in sig.

From the E6600 F

E6600 @ defaults:
iTAT temps idle - 18C
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/2286/e6600freezonetempsatdefim2.jpg
iTAT small FFT load - 36C
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/961/e6600freezonetempsatdefdl2.jpg

E6600 @ 3.15 GHz (9x350) 1.35V bios/1.3V under load - 43C
http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/5125/e6600315ghz135vbios13vlzy4.jpg

E6600 @ 3.24 GHz (8x405) 1.4V bios/1.35V under load - 46C
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/8739/e6600324ghz8x40514vbiosaw1.jpg

E6600 @ 3.36 GHz (8x420) 1.45V bios/1.4V load Orthos small FFTs - 51C
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/7200/e66003360ghz8x420145vbipz7.jpg

3618 MHz @ 3.618 GHz (9x402) 1.6V bios/1.54V load Orthos blend- 56C iTAT/65C Asus PC Probe 2
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/4437/e66003618ghz9x40216vbiobv0.jpg

Not terribly impressed...
Appears these F codes are indeed a tad crappy.
To get Orthos close to stable @ ~ 3.6 GHz i need 1.6V in bios, which translates to 1.54V under load in Windows.
And that means running my Freezone at max, since at the medium range (at which i can tolerate the noise), temps get way outta control.
So while running max is great for testing/benching etc, there's no way i could tolerate it for 24/7...

From the E6600 B

E6600 B @ 3.204 GHz (9x356) 1.3V bios/1.25V load Orthos small FFTs - 44C
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/2492/e6600b3204ghz9x35613vbiqj5.jpg

E6600 B @ 3.303 GHz (9x367) 1.3V bios/1.25V load Orthos small FFTs - 47C
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/6856/e6600b3303ghz9x36713vbiki4.jpg

E6600 B @ 3.402 GHz (9x378) 1.3V bios/1.25V load - 47C
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7196/e6600b3402ghz9x37813vbiil2.jpg
(On these settings i ran Orthos small FFTs, but it rebooted the PC overnight sometime; so that's not entirely stable)

E6600 B @ 3.501 GHz (9x378) 1.3625V bios/1.3V load Orthos blend - 56C
http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/1461/e6600b3501ghz9x38913625fm2.jpg

VID on this new E6600 B is 1.2375V instead of 1.325V like the F one, so default vcore is actually lower, & i'd like to think OCing should be a bit better because of that.

Thus far, the new E6600 B appears to be pretty good.
But temps are also much higher...

Backstory from first day

Just installed the E6600 & Freezone minutes ago.

Things didn't really go according to plan today.
Power went out in the whole area where i live around noon for a few hours, & the Freezone's provided bolts didn't fit the back of my case, so i had to go shopping to find something that would work.
After a few hours wasted, i got a bolt/nut combination that at least allows me to mount the Freezone in the back of the case, albeit in a less than ideal way.

And now i just booted up a few minutes ago.

First impressions:
Holy crap the Freezone's fan is loud @ max.
Holy crap low temps :Q

F stepping? Can you verify on the CPU IHS? Weird, maybe it's a B but the marks are rubbed off?

It's F.

I found a few mentions of it @ HardForum & XS for E6400/6300s, & one E6600...sadly the E6600 user was getting sh!t results.

Time will tell though.

Seems brand new.

I just got a L639F030. No one seems to be very happy with this batch. Sigh.

I know this is kinda off topic but..

What kind of cooling are those guys using to get E6600's to 4GHz???!!!!!

I should have my "F" up and running within the next 2-3 days...got it right before a stretch of night shifts.

Everything is default; haven't changed anything in the bios yet, so it's idling with very low vcore.

iTAT temps idle = roughly 18C

One bad thing aside from the noise (gonna have to try it @ low) is the fact that now my NB isn't getting any air blown on it like it was with my TT BT.

I suspect that might become an issue at high FSBs...
I may have to rig up some way to get a 120mm Noctua blowing over the whole CPU/NB area.

Hey, with that freezone, Duvie got his QX6700 to 3.33 stable, you should get 3.6 at least....(with good PSU and memory)

So one would think :frown:

Basically, this chip is doing no better [actually likely a bit worse] than my E6300, & that's kinda unfair comparison anyway, since this Freezone is drastically better than my TTBT was.

IOW, i got a poor E6600...pretty much my luck
I think this one's gonna get sold...i'll have to see if i can get a Bxxx stepping instead of these Fxxx ones.

Bah i was just about to add a 3.52 GHz screenie, but Orthos errored seven minutes in :frown:
And that's with 1.525V bios/1.47V load.

Try 3.4 and work on that for a while, see what happens.

n7: I love my freezone, it allowed me to take my chip close to 4Ghz. Of course, I also switched my mobo to Evga NF680i, and new memory. But, it will cool the s**** out of your chip, as long as you release the extra heat that the tecs are creating inside your case.

Eh updated first post.
Of course, 3618 MHz isn't stable anyway as it turns out.
A few minutes after i editted the OP, Orthos blend rebooted teh PC around the 20 minute mark

I actually bought another E6600 from a local store today to see how it does; hopefully better than this "F" code.

New one is L632B173...when i get time, i'll see how it fares.

Sorry to hear you got a subpar clocker N7. Of course it had to happen since you went and bought an awesome Freezone

Hope your next one does much better!

Got my tax refund back the other day, which I was going to use to finally join you guys and start some good Intel OC'ing (haven't OC'd an Intel in years)...but alas, financial issues came up and I am again delayed going to the dark side

Ah don't mention financial things
I don't have the money i've wasted...

I'm an absolute fool for buying these two components when i could merrily run my E6300 + TT BT at extremely quiet levels just fine.

I blame the desire for more (which i completely do not need) on forums
Damn hardware addiction.
